how do I get rid of fleas with no pesticides.
Comments (12)I figured out why my flea-less dog got fleas all of a sudden. It is his dog food! Nutro has changed it formula and dogs all over the country are getting ill and some dying. Ill dogs attract fleas. Here are a few links about the sickness nutro is causing. http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/nutro.html http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2008/04/pet_food_recalls93.html http://www.rateitall.com/i-24984-nutro.aspx http://www.voy.com/211161/ Nutro was bought out by mars candy and iams (we are feeding our cat) was bought out by Purina. We are in the process of switching the dog to evo and the cat to merrick. Evo does not have fish flavors (that the cat prefers). Both are grain free formulas. The dog gets raw organ and beef 2 times a day, but nutro only in the morning. Hubby hates the thought of touching the raw stuff. Can't get the cat interested in the raw food at all Want to switch your animal to a better brand check out this link http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ They only rate the dog foods, but I would guess a good quality dog food brand might also make good cat foods. the deaths of dogs from poor quality dog foods saddens me greatly. the symptoms our dog has in common with the other ill dogs are peeing in the house diarrhea dark urine red itchy skin vomits up undigested food occasionally dry heaves Unfortunately, other's dogs have died from liver and or kidney failure, and some only after eating the new brand for only for 4 days. I would never post something bad about a company like this except I can see the same symptoms in my corgi. The vet assumes urinary tract infection but can't get urine from him to test. Antibiotics no helping. If someone wants to start a thread on a forum please do so. This info needs to get out! please post the link to the new post here. so I other's can find it easier....See MoreHow do I get rid of my newly seeded Bermuda grass lawn
Comments (6)It is unfortunate that misinformation continues to be repeated about glyphosate. Denmark has not banned glyphosate, nor have "many European countries". Denmark at one point thought that some of the monitoring they were doing showed that glyphosate could move into agricultural field drainage water in autumn but once they looked at their data and related it to the methodology they used, they enacted no ban whatsoever. As the Danish Environmental Protection Agency specifically stated: http://www.egeis.org/home/main/Evaluation-GlyphosateDEPA.PDF "Against this background, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency believes that no unacceptable risk of pollution of the groundwater is associated with the currently approved agricultural use of glyphosate. The Agency thus does not consider that the updated state of our knowledge provides any technical grounds for the imposition of restrictions on the autumn application of glyphosate." Used properly, glyphosate will not pollute drinking water nor will it have adverse effects on humans. Once applied, it binds tightly to soil particles and is not herbicidally active. If it is applied to hard surfaces such as sidewalks it can move offsite of course. It can also move if there is active soil erosion carrying soil off site. It is of very low toxicity, and breaks down completely into natural constituents over time. It is of equal or lower toxicity than most household products such as detergent, soaps, shampoos, cleaners etc. and far less toxic than some of the "alternatives" often discussed such as bleach, kerosene, high strength vinegars and so on. There is so much misinformation being repeated on the web that it is difficult to get reliable information. This link provides an published overview of the available literature. Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology Volume 31, Issue 2, April 2000, Pages 117-165 Safety Evaluation and Risk Assessment of the Herbicide Roundup and Its Active Ingredient, Glyphosate, for Humans http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=1401479...See MoreGetting rid of clothing that doesn't fit
Comments (7)Everybody's got old clothes that don't fit. That doesn't exactly mean they have to be ruined by the time factor. Some, like in my case, are pretty much intact. I suggest keeping them for the following uses: - Old clothing. Most of the times you will look for a larger rug than the almost completely useless one you already have. Things like old T-shirts make for excellent rugs. - Donation or charity. Surely there will be someone interested in that clothing. Remember that one man's trash is another man's treasure. - Heritage. The most preserved ones can be kept to be passed on from one generation to the other. - Household use. Plain clothing, suitable for filling in for those DIY materials....See MoreHELP! THE JURY IS IN: I'll keep it plain & simple, It was a No-brainer after all. It really was not negotaible after all. I simply chose my "Partner for life, Maximus". His pawprint is actually tattooed on my left thigh. Some day, I will commission Kat Von D, should I be so fortunate should I be able to afford her services to tattoo his headshot onto my left thigh. I shall remain friends' w/"Great Guy", should he so choose to, I think w/his career schedule and our communication so far, we shall at least be able to enjoy this much for the meanwhile.
