I have to agree with Squirrel that it looks like it is hung kind of high? Perhaps it is just the angle of the shots.

Thank you! Oh, I wish someone was here with me! I am hoping it's the angle of the shots. The lighting people said it was hung at standard height. I was afraid to go too low because I have a landing on the stairs and I didn't want it to feel like it was right on top of you as you were walking up (and didn't want the kids to try to touch it). I guess I will see what people here think.:)

It is a Capital Fixture, Chatham Collection. I got it through a local lighting store.

The paint color is Tobacco Road. It's an old Duron color I had mixed through SW. Also available at Farrell-Calhoun (sp?).

I'm mainly a lurker here but I had to tell you how beautiful your new chandelier is. LOVE that paint color as well.

What a perfect finishing touch to your foyer. It really updates the entire space. In looking at your pictures from when you painted etc...I never really noticed that fixture as being 80's brass etc. But now with the new one, it really makes a big difference.

I have a big old brass chandelier in my DR that I like the design of ok, but geez, the brass is a bit bright! Now you've got me thinking how nice an ORB fixture would look there....I wonder if I can somehow change the metal to ORB???

Thanks! Good question about the bulbs, Oceanna. I had the same issue with the last one and it was impossible to clean as well. This one should be easier to clean. I should be able to change the bulbs using an 8 foot ladder. They needed a huge a-frame 12 foot ladder to install it.

Kitchenkelly, thanks. I absolutely love the floors. Of all the things I've done it is my absolute favorite and I never have doubts about them at all - pure joy! It's funny how the look of the house has developed. I like the richness of it, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice. I think it is the best look for the house and working with the stained woodwork. I did tell my DH the other day that in another house or with painted woodwork, I probably would have gone in a lighter direction. Overall, with what I am working with, I am pleased. Thanks. I assume you still love your floors as well. I just saw the pictures on the Before and After thread and what a transformation. The change is amazing in your house! Gorgeous!

Polkadots... hmmm... I haven't cleaned mine since I moved in. I dunno how I'm going to do it. The ladder I got is soooo heavy and hard for me to horse around, and I don't think it's even big enuf to reach the fixture. Last time I had a bulb burned out I made my son replace it. I can't see him being happy about being asked to clean it though. :-/

Oceanna, once in a while I have my exterior windows cleaned professionally (impossible to get the ousides of the casement windows on the 2nd floor). Once I had the guy who did it clean the chandelier for like $25 - I thought that was well worth it! Might be something to check into.

elenkao, oh, I know. It would look so great to paint the woodwork. I have wanted to so many times, but I have finally come to terms with keeping it and trying to make it look as good as possible. DH doesn't want to do it etc., etc.. I am pretty pleased with how I've improved it while keeping the woodwork, but I know it would look so great painted. Right now I am not going to, but never say never! :)
