New Years Resolution:How Can I not be annoying today?

marge727 responded to a post on another thread, and mentioned that as a lawyer, who works with men all day, that women should consider what they can do to make home a wonderful place to come home to for her family. Where home is organized, and conversation is easy. Instead of complaining, or bringing up problems, she suggested that people ask themselves: HOW CAN I NOT BE ANNOYING TODAY??? Several responded that we should all ask ourselves that question, and look for ways to make home a warm, wonderful place to be for each other. So I am going to repeat marges727 because it is kind of a nice way to start the new year.

So...How can we NOT be annoying today????????

Hi, I forgot about that post. My laptop screen got broken and I missed a lot while it was being repaired.
so I missed the follow ups. where are they --
In answer to your post=--what I am resolving is that when my husband wants to go on a diet I don't bake his favorite chocolate oatmeal cookies with pecans on top.

I myself,am never annoying ;)

I'm sure I'am sometimes....But I do try to make my home lovely for my husband and daughter everyday.The house is ALways clean,and dinner cooking.My favorite part of the day is sitting down to dinner with them and eating and having a conversation.
I think I'm only really annoying when I get upset about that something.I admit I can be a tad melodramatic (but boy do i get it honestly!) So,How I can be less annoying is by simply walking away when I'am frustrated (which really isnt too often unless it's Pms time! )

If I remember right, Olya grows them outside in the Tampa area. Someone remembers me! :) I have not posted in forever and decided to check out the site today I DO grow outside, in Tampa (Temple Terrace), year round. In Florida, it is way too tempting to grow orchids inside,since, as Gary said, we have 10 months of good orchid weather I have a structure with 50% shade cloth on it - lots of light From Orchids May 2009 In winter I cover it with plastic - takes two people to do that ...On cold nights, I turn on a heater or two in there. Any temps above 45, I am not worried, not even for phals... With a few plants, growing outside in Florida is a way to go. Give your phals lots of bridge diffused light; the dendrobiums will need a lot more light than that...

I finally got to read your whole post. I bet you are feeling like tearing your hair out because she sure doesn't seem to value your time or that you have other things to do. I am so sorry. My dad will be 91 in July and had hip/femur surgery in November and, sadly, it just hasn't healed. The next step is a partial hip replacement with a titanium rod inserted in the femur. What I have noticed is that on the days he has pain he can't seem to hand me his lunch or dinner plate or mail in order for me to clean up. I think it is a mental decision that they can't do the simplest of things. I think contacting any senior centers or any senior programs available through government services might be a great start. There are organizations that will take your mom grocery shopping or to appointments if they are fairly local. Some charge, some take donations and some are totally free. Many grocery stores have online ordering and will deliver to her home for a fee. That could be a lifesaver for sure. Do insist on being in charge of her calendar or you won't be able to attend or drive. She cannot make decisions for you when you are the ride. Let us know what you have decided to do and know that we all support you and most have gone through (or are going through) similar situations. The is a great place to vent! Robyn

Lydia: I don't sell on Ebay but I do not, do not, do not, like their new format. It takes me so much longer to do searches, so I have to 'opt out' which adds so many more steps when I first go on. I used to enjoy going on for 15 minutes or so every day, just to ck some things out. Now it feels like it's a chore!! My son says about the same things and he does occasionally sell. Shirley PS: Just in the last month, Ebay, my webmail, my online banking, zap2it have all changed their formats, claiming they've made them better. I've yet to see anything better in anyone of them.

Chisue this particular place has an average of 75ish dogs p/day. Some are boarding while their families vacation, others are just there for the daycare but it used to be a lot busier before the new owners took over. Back then it was usually 100-115 dogs a day. It’s part of the national franchise, Camp Bow Wow. They’re 3-4 facilities in the surrounding communities but the one we go to is one of the busier ones, at least it used to be. The Franchise has high expectations when it comes to animal care and cleanliness, (those cameras aren’t just for the dog owners IYKWIM) but I think that the biggest contributor to this facilities success was the way the previous owners ran it because they were always there. They were super engaged with their regulars as well as a local animal rescue. They’d sponser all kinds of things with the rescue like doggy picture day or events to promote animal awareness AND they brought in an affordable onsite groomer. The new owners are an older retired couple and literally never around. I don’t know about privately owned facilities since this is the only place she’s ever been. As for being lucrative, if ran well I guess there is the potential. The only draw back is that while there is a demand for it, there’s only so much value you can squeeze out of this type of service. I think at the prices facilities are demanding now it’s starting to max out people’s budgets including ours. When prices went from 16 to 18 a couple of years ago, I started cutting back on the number of times I’d take her there to help compensate. Now it went up again about a month ago to $20 and that’s where I’m pretty much maxed out. Ellie’s eight and while she still has energy and likes to play, her needs can easily be met at the county dog park and it even has a lake for the dogs to swim and play in. That’s only 30/year, I’m just afraid that once she discovers the lake, I won’t be able to get her out of the water! LOL

Well what a good discussion to have.

I thoroughly agree with the idea of creating a calm, happy homelife.

Coolmama, I am like you I love sitting down to dinner each day, with my family around a table, chatting and having a lovely meal (always prepared by ME!!). I make the table clean, attractive with candles, placemats, flowers, jugs of ice water, just simple things. I work hard at the meal, accomodating the eaters !

I think I could be less annoying by not brooding ! If I am annoyed about something, I do brood about it from time to time.

But my NY resolution is to stop being JUDGEMENTAL. I cringe when I think of how critcal I can be about people, thats not my place, gosh ...what a pain. I am going to stop being like that, and just say positive things, and work on my happiness and my family's happiness.

I am fortunate that I do have the time to make my homelife a lovely place for my family. I am into indoor plants at the moment, so that is how I am making it even more lovely !!

This really is a great discussion!
So how can I not be annoying today?
Stop putting hubby down for not knowing or doing certain things. (I.e. he's never changed a diaper, and I've changed tons, so I keep wondering aloud, and sometimes not too nicely, how he can be so stupid/inexperienced/questioning about everything.)
He doesn't say this annoys him, but he wouldn't say so. And it would annoy me. Besides, cutting it out will probably only help our situation!
