Two Periods A Month

Anyone having this wonderful issue? I had 2 in December, 18 days apart and now its day 17 of my cycle and I got my monthly pimple, and bad cramps feeling like in 3, 2, 1 I'm going to start.

Does this mean I'm getting near the end of this hell? I'm 44 I will be 45 in Feb.

Hi,

See your doctor within the next couple of weeks if you can. At 48 I started having my periods 16 days apart - it's now lasted 2 years and I'm going back to a new doctor to ask for a scan.

I keep a meticulous log of my period (Using my free gmail calendar so I can go back years on my period history) - I suggest you keep a record of your periods.

Please book an appointment with your doctor.

Well I'm now on day 32 of my cycle and no period yet. I will make an appt with a gyne if it continues, only happened once. I'm in the process of finding a new gyne...didn't trust the last one. When Drs start lying to you its time to move on.

Hi again Randi, I can definitely sympathize and empathize with you! I'm just glad I had no idea that it would be so hard (and scary). Try to take consolation in the fact that you're 50 and not 40 with these symptoms! When our hearts are doing flip flops, it does make us feel like we won't survive! And everything is worse at night too. There were so many nights when I truly didn't think I would survive until morning. Try to do some internet searches on more natural ways to get through this with a minimal amount of distress. Toprol did help me get through the worst part of the adrenalin rushes. I would go through around a month at a time, that my heart would just be faster all the time, and I would be in a constant state of panic. Then it would subside. I just knew it was those hormones! It might not be your thyroid. I've talked to alot of perimenopausal women who have lumps in their throats. I went through a phase of having trouble swallowing things. I think our funky hormones cause our muscles to get lax, and the esophogus is a muscle. Well hang in there Randi.....you will get through this! ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))

Well, you should go back... the older us women get, the more we should stay on top of things... cancers pop up so fast. It sounds to me that you are a good long way into perimenopause... but I really recommend that you discuss this with your gyno.

Yes. I'm 50. Early last month after a year and a half of no periods, I get a period. Of course my mind went to the worst place. I made a doctor's appt since I was due for an exam anyway. He ordered an ultrasound and that came back normal as well as the Pap smear. He said it's possible to have a "last hurrah." My hot flashes ended during that time and I started sleeping well again. Unfortunately that didn't last long. Other things can cause bleeding so it's a good idea to get checked out. Hope all is well.

I just came from the gynecologist with the same problem. I'm scheduled for an ultra sound, to look for polyps or fibroids, she all tested for endometriosis. She's also doing a hormone test to see if I am menopausal...something none of the male gynes would do. (They said if you have symptoms you are) No this isn't normal for long periods of time. In my case it's been over 3 months. I'm also anemic...well duh if you bled so much for so long you would be too. So I'm in for a bunch of tests. Occassionally in the past I'd have 2 periods a month but it would always go back to monthly. By all means if this has been going on for more than a month see your gyne. BTW I'm also 49 and still having my periods, gyne said the average age now is 52, though many women have perimenopause symptoms way before then. Hang in there, I look at this way as long as all of my problems can be medically explained as menopausal and not just in my head I'm happy and can live with that.

Funny you should say that. I just had a 35 day break from all this (no period) and then a period and then 12 days after the last one ended - WHAM - another period. I have to reschedule my physical now because I'm so outta whack. I am fed up and can really appreciate what you are going through. I am going to ask my new female doctor for a scan - I'm fed up. I have no pain, no cramps non of that stuff over the last 2 years. Just frequent periods. It's beyond annoying - it's exhausting.

Do keep in touch. I'd be interested to compare notes on things. I know we are not alone in this department.

hi Peggy,

Well I'm now on day 40 of my cycle and NO period in sight! ugh....also, since I started the Maca supplement Yes it has helped my emotional rollercoaster a lot and took away ALL my anxiety but it has given me some other stuff to replace it with lol I have more gas, more frequent bowel movements (tmi lol) and now I'm BLOATED...I have been this way for over a week now in my UPPER abdomen.

I'm going to the Gyne Feb 12 ( I do not need to be told to go to the Drs lol) and I'm going to try going back on the mini pill...where its only progesterone. Also I'm going to ask them to do a transvaginal sonogram to check my ovaries.

That is my update for now :)
