Our local McDonald's has a sign stating you must check your bag before pulling away from the drive up, for them to make it right. Sorry you had so many mistakes made this week.

We are noticing this more and more too. It happened to me just yesterday at Tim Hortons. First she tried to get me to accept a bagel that was toasted because she had already toasted it when I asked for one not toasted. Then she totally ignored the large chicken on a bun sandwich that I had paid for and didn't make it for me until I asked where it was. Considering the fact that I only had three things in my order, I was pretty disgusted with their service.

I think it is a lack of some people doing their job. I still don't understand how so many mistakes are made at drive-ups at fast food places. It seems to me that if the clerk took just a split moment more to check the order, less mistakes would be made. Many times there is so much unnecessary talking between employes that the person making up the order just does not care, they are more concerned with chatting with their friends. Why should we have to check our order with so many people waiting in line especially at lunch time. If we do find the mistake, then we have to park, go inside, get it corrected, than try to get back to work on time.

I've been burned so many times that I don't leave anywhere anyplace anytime until I've checked whats in the bag...including clothing stores...My son and I went school shopping at a mall 60 miles from us...the largest in Georgia so it was a fun trip and a day excursion to beat...We got home that evening and they had left one of those anti theft devices on one of his t-shirts...I called the store and of course they said it couldn't have possibly happend...WELL IT DID!! so tell me how to get this stupid thing off without ruining the short...they have machines that remove them...she told us to just bring it back in...Lady i'm 60 miles from you...I'm not bringing it back...my hubster finally worked with the thing and removed it with pliers...we were worried the shirt would be ruined but he managed to get it off without the ink container exploding all over the shirt! so now I check everything!! (and still wonder why it didn't set the alarm code off at the door!)

It really is very frustrating isn't it...especially when your far away from the store!

I went through the drivethru, ordered a ham sandwich on a particular bread.

Asked lady if I had the right bread, when I paid her and she said "I just checked". So as I was driving off, I smell onion rings, but being as I asked and she said she checked I drove on in.

I once drove thru Burger King and ordered a Whopper hamburger with no onion. They gave me a hamburger with onion and no other toppings. Geez, I wanted cheese and ketchup and pickles. "Hold the ketchup, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us." I should have looked!

I've gotten home with one of those anti-theft tags, too.

As for buying cheap fast food...you're paying pennies and the staff is paid pennies. What can you expect? (The pharmacy is another matter!)

I've been shorted by pharmacy.

Called them, and they said they would have the extras ready for me to pickup.

You have to check everything in this day & time. Especially at the fast food places.

Dottie, on the pictures I think I would have suggested they mail them to me along with a return prepaid mailer to return the others to them.

I usually try to watch that things are put in the bags and I get all the bags. Usually check the bag at a drive-up window

The medications I take are in high demand but expensive, so pharmacies only keep so much in stock. Often they can't fully fill my prescription. It will be noted on the bottle "owe x number of pills". That doesn't mean I get to go back and get the rest.

I just have to go sooner to refill, and of course pay the dispensing fee again. What should have been two months worth is now one, so I pay that fee twice as often as I should be. Plus, my doctor only gives me so many refills. So I have to go back that much sooner to get new scripts.

When I explain that to the pharmacist, he just blinks at me. "I didn't charge you for the pills you didn't get". No, but the dispensing fee is a flat charge per prescription. "But you would have paid that anyway". AARGH!

I have driven away with the wrong prescrition before too. Once it was somebody else's bottles, another time it was the wrong medicine in the correct bottle. Good thing I know what my meds look like and get very suspicious if they look different!

Cynic, my friend, good to hear from you. Unless I have missed your posts, I haven't seen you here lately. I asked the photo dept. about returning by mail and they truthfully said, that it would probably never reach them, it would have to be in person. DS will do it next week. As for my photos, I had bought the throw-away camera to get pics of new kitty, Buster. The board of our APT house demands pictures of our pets. I'll go to the pharmacy tomorrow to pickup the other prescriptions and I received coupons from Dairy Queen in the mail for a free value basket. Dottie

But overall, this shorting the customer thing is awful. I have been checking everything for such a long time, that I don't even remember why I started.

do not get me started. Drive thru in this town is a joke. Placed order for drinks and food, paid, and started to the pick-up. Just noticing the car in front of me they passed 4 drinks inside, and noticed they passed them to back seat, food came and they must have been getting it out and realized it was not what they ordered. Clerk waved to them to pull over and she would get the right order. When I pulled up to the window, she started to hand me the food and drinks that she had put in the car in front of me. I told her no, I didn't want food and drink that four other people had handled. Her words back to me, "they didn't eat anything, it was your order". All I said very calmly was, please give me a refund.

Moni, I think the dispensing fee is built into the price of the prescription. When Autumn was taking something that we got from our pharmacy, 30 pills would be about $11. 60 pills would be $15. 90 would be about $20. (This is all just off the top of my head.) When I asked the vet why that was she explained to me about the built in dispensing fee at drugstores. So when we order pills for the dogs (Paisley is on Premarin and Tramadol) we ask them for the maximum amount possible every time.

It's not just things in bags. I bought a stove, and it was to be delivered in two days. When the truck arrived, my white stove was suddenly almond colored. I refused delivery, had to argue with the delivery person who wanted to drop it off, and when I called the store, I was told, "Well, you should have taken the stove, white, almond, what's the difference?" Next day I had an interesting chat with the manager in person, who ended up offering me 10% off on the stove. I told him I'd bake on a rock first! I got a full refund and bought a white stove somewhere else.

Yes chisue, in Texas there are a lot of colorful expressions, some of which are appropriate for mixed company and posting!

marlingardener, I laughed out loud when I read your response. Bet the manager will not forgot that conversation. There have been times that I wished I could have been that quick on my feet.

I can't stand that when it happens, they expect you to go all the way back there to get the right order.

I had ordered one time a large order and had to pull over as we were in drive through and wait quite awhile and others did too. Finally I get the bag and I put it beside me and took off and got home and opened up the bag and had to pack the child I was looking after back in the car and drive back as got someone's tiny order, they must have loved our big order. It takes time to do to and yes, we aren't all close by either to drive back and then home again. they are the ones that need to check the bags before handing them to the person and making sure the order is correct.

marlingardener, I, too, laughed OUT LOUD at your response!! What a hoot. Things must be very lively at your house. It is maddening though when your order is screwed up. Messing up prescriptions is downright dangerous. I feel lucky to be within short driving distances to get my orders messed up!! :)

I too had that problem several years ago when I ordered a maroon rocker and surprise a green one showed up. I said no before they even took it off the truck, and called the manager as they were arguing with me over the color as my copy stated maroon. Besides it was an ugly green. Finally about 3 weeks later they did deliver a maroon chair, but still not the exact color I ordered. Took it anyway, as I knew it would be another 3 weeks or so and color was close enough. Never bought there again, and the store went out of business. Others had problems too!

My DH hates to go through drive-thru's for that very reason. I have also had the security tags left oh clothing, and had to make a trip back to the mall. Annoying! I think my worst was getting delivery of an upholstered chaise, only to find a rip on the side. I told the driver to put it back on the truck and he said why didnt i just put that side to the wall??!
