I was trying to see if there were a way to use glass block or something to bring in more light from the right but couldn't figure anything out. Since the back door is just to the service stairs, I don't think your current layout has any flow problems.

Are your aisles wide enough? 'Cause everything else looks fine to me :) I think it's going to be a fabulous looking kitchen.

Next step: Have you located your microwave, if any? Mixer? Food processor? Where do the bluky, heavy, non-built-ins go? Where's the trash? Are you doing a pull out? With a pedal or hip bump? (I recently learned trash is an appliance.) Have you mapped out where your stuff will go? You have those great closets, but have you done any zone planning? I.e., knives and cutting boards in prep area, baking sheets and pans by the oven, towel bar by the sink.

Looks pretty good and no suggestions. I just wanted to say your table nook reminds me of a picture in a magazine of a similar nook in a very expensive home. The back upholstered banquette or loveseat was set into framing paneling with the wall behind used to display art. Beautiful to look into and wonderfully inviting.

Perhaps I couldn't find it because of the search engine problems yesterday.

The aisles were a bit tricky - one is 4' and the other is 3 1/2' - which was largely limiete by the column.

I've only given a little thought to where everything else would go. I thought the microwave would probably go next to the refrigerator.

There currently is a small pullout under the sink, which I may keep. Disposals are not permitted in my building, so it is convenient to have even a small receptacle near the sink. I will likely have a tall trash can in front of the service door because I like to be able to move the trash can around to where I'm working.

I prefer having knives on a magnetic strip, so I just need to decide where the optimal location for it will be.

With respect to mixer, blender and Cuisinart, I will likely store them in a cabinet (likely near the sink) rather than have them on one of the counters because there isn't that much counter space. My brother has appliance garages in the corners of his kitchen which I am considering because of the great convenience of just pulling out the cuisinart already plugged into a socket rather than taking it from a cabinet. I don't love the look though.

I plan to have two deep drawers opposite the range and oven in the peninsula for pots and pans. I would like to have vertical storage for cookie sheets, racks, jelly roll pans. It may be possible to use the 6" space on the range side of the peninsula for this.

Otherwise, I haven't yet formed any cogent thoughts about work zones or more specifically where I shall store anything.

The aisles sound good. 42"-48" should be comfortable. MW by the fridge sounds good too, and you can use the end of the peninsula for a landing space. The pots across from the stove sound convenient, but do be careful about twisting when you lift them. Be nice to your back, and use turning steps rather than twisting through your torso while lifting :)

Have you done any vertical drawings? That might help with things like knife placement, etc.

Do you currently keep the small appliances in a cabinet? I always keep the KA mixer on the counter, but have a place under the cooktop (old kitchen) where the Cuisinart, crockpot and flip waffler, among others, supposedly live. I say supposedly because I hate lifting them in and out, and they stay on the counter until I can't stand them any more. If you don't like the looks of appliance garages, and don't want to keep the big heavy ones on the counters, do you have room to devote some lower cabinetry to appliance lifts?

Where will you keep dishes? Pitchers? Coffee maker? Serving trays and bowls? (Perhaps also have vertical storage for platters and trays?) What about other baking supplies? Canisters?

It really helps to go through all the cupboards and make a list organizing everything into stuff you use together. Like scrapers and wooden spoons. Pot stirrers and ladles. Etc. Plus, map out the steps for washing and putting things away. Some people like dishes near the sink/DW. Others prefer them next to the seating. Are there seasonings you use mostly at the stove? A spice pullout or rack? Are there cooking oils and wines that should be by the stove?

Do you ever roll pastry or cookies? Will you do that on the peninsula? Will that affect the height?
