Peeling veneer is usually a good sign of excess interior humidity. Your first step is to see if that is still the case and address it before repairing or replacing your doors. The doors may or may not be worth salvaging. An experienced woodworker may be able to help you there. There are peel and stick veneers available from the 3M company, I think that can be used for repairs though I don't think their life expectancy is all that long. Wayne

Bill3D - You are correct about making assumptions and I certainly didn't intend to mislead anyone into making a mess of their cabinet doors. All of my 31 cabinet doors peeled with very little effort - and all within about and hour. I noticed immediately that the glue was only around the outer edges and NOT in the middle panel area of the cabinets. I used a palm sander to remove any remaining glue off the board (MDF?) and very little glue came off - obviously these were NOT high-end thermofoil cabinets. :) They are no more than 8 years old and were ordered from Lowe's, so my natural assumption is that they were probably NOT the most expensive cabinets the store offered. I really only suggested this as a desperate last measure to anyone in the same situation as me to replace the cabinet door fronts. Yes, Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is good, but it's not the cure for bad prep. You'll need to remove ALL loose paint, even if it means stripping it. Then sand to fresh wood with #150 grit sandpaper, prime and paint. Be sure to paint all six sides of door. Humidity can cause damage if the ends are left open. Michael

Jeremy, did you get a solution? I renovated a100 year old house 2 years ago. All the walls were plaster with suspected lead paint at some point- so skim coated all walls with Sheetrock mud... applying, drying, sanding,& re mudding till smooth. I then paid a licensed painter to paint. Instead of primer first, then paint he used a SW PRIMER Paint COMBO. This old house has brick exterior and plaster interior walls. Naturally the plaster moisture levels rise after heavy rains. Moisture reading goes up and down. Soooooo-what now? I read where high quality OIL PRIMER best for walls with some moistlure, but what to do about latex that is NOT ADHERING? I can’t really paint over it? Right?
