Plan on baking and decorating cut-out cookies today. At the local downtown market I found the small silver and gold dragees for decorating. I looked for these items all over last year AND the year before because I have been rationing my two very old bottles of them. The only place I could find them was online and they were expensive and SH was steep.

Anyhow, right after Christmas I saw them in the bulk food aisle! Small tubs, yes again expensive, but I bought both silver and gold plus the white "pearls". I'm a happy camper!

Yup..doing laundry and making a pot of gravy, with sausage, meatballs and a couple of boneless pork chops.

Nothing like pasta for carb loading for shoveling heavy snow.

We have a big crockpot of chili simmering, now gotta clean the floor where dh slopped it over. Needs cleaning anyway! I could bake, but we already have a few cupcakes and a donut left over.

I'm at work today but I left a crock pot beans - 15 bean cajun cooking away. I'm going to run home at lunch and add some smoked sausage and ham to the beans. I'll make a pan of cornbread to go with the bean soup. Yummmmmmm!

I plan on making a big pot of vegetable barley soup this afternoon and I'll put some hearty bread mix in the Breadmaker.

I have beef barley soup simmering away in the crock pot.

Wish someone would make me a pot of beef stew!

With REAL cornbread baked in a cast iron skillet. No sugar in it, please!

I am thinking pork chops...someway. I don't want to dry them out and it is too cold to grill outside. The wind just cuts right through you!
Anyone know a really good way to cook pork chops without drying them out?? They are about 1/2 inch thick with the bone. I was just going to season them up, pan fry them but that doesn't sound too good.

Sue...I wish I lived close to you...so I could pop over and visit around supper time...LOL

NO way! It's my birthday. The office took me out for lunch and DH will be taking me out tonight. Kitchen is closed.

I've been prepping for Friday lunch with Carol, Nita, Timm and Kenny. Lots of chopping done and two salads made. I'll finish tomorrow.

I have a huge chicken breast out for dinner, but no idea of what to do with it nor any desire for chicken. Maybe chicken and pasta with a little olive oil and fresh grated Parmesan and garlic toast.

I'm home today because our school district is closed...yay! I made one large and two small lobster pot pies. We'll have the large one tonight and I froze the two small ones for a future dinner. DS and his GF will come up since they're home, too. It's just a 30 second walk from the cottage. We're blessed ;o) It's an Ina Garten recipe I've wanted to try. I didn't have quite enough lobster meat so I added some frozen calamari. The alternate directions said it could be made with any seafood mix and I had the calamari...I would have preferred crab meat, but it was not to be and I certainly was not going to go anywhere in this weather.
We'll have a nice salad, a loaf of bastone and a glass of cabernet~shiraz. Yum!

Does thawing count?

I have Taco Soup out thawing for my dinner.

We are not supposed to get any more snow and the sun is shining and that has revitalized me. I mixed up a pan of brownies and after resting up from that, I ran the vacuum. I rewarded myself by sampling the brownies. Yummy!

Still have to clean up the brownie pan and mixer, etc. Oh, well. Another reward.

Weather's lovely here today but two little rug rats are keeping me inside!LOL I'm about to whip up some banana muffins before these 4 bananas go completely bad.Planning to frost them with cream cheese frosting.MMM Haven't had banana muffins in a long time.
DS is cooking dnner tonight.Grilling some sirloin strips and making his "famous" garlic/bacon mashed potatoes.I'm glad he is feeling well enough to wa to cook agan.

Plan on frying some crispy chicken tonite. DH said he was craving it. Imagine that....him craving my special fried chicken?? It is my mom's recipe, and I love it on occasion.
Most of the time it is off the grill out back, but that gets old....

Just some spuds, and that will do us.

I fixed Spaghetti tonight and while it was simmering made up a big ole batch of Toll House Cookies...DH is in heaven...Their his favorite!

We had COR (Clean out refridgerator) casserole:leftover pasta, tomatoes, cheese, green beans, peas, and a smidgen of onions and corn. Not too bad, and now I have space for those fresh veggies that I bought this morning. Helpful hint: A little Adobo Seasoning sprinkled on things will make even a dishcloth taste good! Bettye/AZ

we (hubby and I) cooked a pot of cabbage and ham. I made corn bread to go with it. It tasted good too.

I cooked NY strip steak and made a large salad to go with it.

Not today, but I am going to make homemade chicken noodle soup tomorrow and add lots of carrots, celery and noodles. DH dislikes noodles, but I am so hungry for some and I am the one with the cold. So he will have to like it or lump it.
