What a morning!

First the dog threw up, big time, then our son got up and said the girl he,s been seeing called it off, somebody from her past came back to town. Son Is 41. On disability,(anxiety, depression) and has a hard time meeting women anyway. He's so insecure and lonely. He,s a late bloomer and going thru stuff now that most guys do much earlier. just wanted to get it off my chest, and ask for good thoughts for him.

You got my good thoughts coming your and your Son's way, that he doesn't hurt too long over the one that got/ran away, and that an even better one comes along soon. As for the dog blowing chunks....ain't that the "fun" part of having a pet?? LOL Hang in there, Kiddo.

I'm sorry your son is hurting.

I've often thought they should make an alarm clock with that uck,uck sound a dog makes. I get out of bed limping and it takes awhile for everything to work. But not when I hear that sound. I'm awake, up and running for the door.

MauveGirl8 -- I plan to stay here for a few years. I haven't even yet applied to school, and the program I'm intending to complete is 5-6 years. My next move will be way south -- Florida. As such, there are a lot of things I have that won't work there, so I wouldn't take them with me. And in any case, I'm not going to dig anything out. If I want to "bring any with me" it will be via rooted cuttings. And before I go, I intend to share some other rooted cuttings with friends -- and my landlord. He and his wife will be building a new home on empty land in the near future, and I said I'd be happy to share anything he'd like for his new yard. Certainly I'll be bringing along my "pot pet collection", and cuttings of anything appropriate for Florida that I got from Vintage Gardens that isn't available elsewhere. And by that time, I'll also make an announcement here for anyone interested in "hard to find" things I nabbed for this garden. For example, the Hybrid China 'Nouveau Monde' from VG doesn't seem to be available anywhere else. I'm using it as a climber against a raised back deck railing. The few flowers it had when it arrived were very fragrant. I posted two pics of it on HelpMeFind from when I first repotted it. Since then, it has grown quite vigorously -- one cane trained horizontally against the railing is easily 10' long from the ground. :-) ~Christopher

Sounds like a 4 footed critter is enjoying your morning glory vines. I would put my bets on a chipmunk as the culprit. In the past, I have had the same problem. What i have found is hanging windchimes around the plants at a very low level keeps the critters away. I have a collection of really cheap ones that I've gotten at dollar stores and use those. The other thing is those vines that where chewed off will be fine. You will soon find new stems branching out from where the pieces was taken off. It's sort of like a critter pinching your vine for you instead of you doing it yourself. Fran

Hannah - Thanks, often folks think I'm batty (sorry, I couldn't help myself). How sweet of you to do 'housekeeping' rather than evict them! They may move into a house if provided, just don't get a cedar one. They prefer weathered wood over new, so recycled wood is perfect for them. I've seen first hand how many bugs a bat can eat and it's a wonderful thought - I'm not a big mosquito fan :) Even though I have had them flying around in my house, I am always held spellbound whenever I see them flying 'free'.

What a snowy morning!

Here along Lake Michigan it is super-snowy and super-cold and super-clear skies. The snow sparkles, like a 6-year-old was handed a big glitter shaker. The bopper-birds (I don’t know my birds, they are sparrow-like and bop around) are all puffed up and bopping around the tree that they love on the property line, it gets the best sun all day long. About 5 degrees warmer to a balmy 15 and it will be nice for a bundled-up walk, before it warms up to the 30s and the streets get all grey and slushy next week.

Oh yuck on the dog noises, I have similar noises but of the feline type. One of the cats is a projectile vomiter....OMG what a mess and it is spread over a 2 foot area.

I am so sorry about your son, I hope that he finds a loving and supportive gal.

Susan, if your son is comfortable with computers, he might give an online matching service a try. Several of my friends have had success with match.com, and one is at least enjoying the process. Your boys are good looking.....take his picture for him. :-)

He is on match.com, that is where he met this girl, along with a few others that didn,t pan out. It's so hard for him to start over each time, and he has to find someone who accepts his problems. Today he went with a buddy to Pittsburgh, so that will take his mind off it for a while. He's on meds, but can get really stressed out when these things happen. I feel what he feels, so I,m pretty stressed too, think I,ll go out and shop a while.

It sure has been an interesting morning for you. What got into the pooch? Hope he is OK. More importantly, sorry about your son's struggles. Make sure he is diligent about his meds. We never stop being mothers, do we? When the "kids" hurt, we hurt. Take care.
