We had 80's style ceiling mounted lights above our vanities in most of the baths in our home. During our remodel, we are rerouting the wiring to put in traditional wall-mounted light fixtures. The reroute is really no big deal, wiring wise. It is a bit tricky to match some ceiling textures for the patching that needs to be done, though. In the rooms with little lighting, I look for light bars that can take a high wattage and it has really brightened up the rooms. There are restrictions regarding hanging lights over water. I know that where I live, a pendant light would not pass code over a tub, but I'm not sure about over a sink. Anyway, just thought I would chime in. Hope you get more responses. Sandy

Thanks for all of the input!!! It sounds like a pendant may not be in my future. I loved the idea of it but as I was looking at it more, I was worried that there might be too much going on there. I was having second thoughts and wanted to get opinions from all of you. Holly-Kay: we are planning on changing out the chandelier above the table to a bronze finish to tie in with the darker wood and fireplace things. But I see how a pendant above the sink might be too much. Snookums2: we removed the dark screens and it looks much better. I can't wait for everything to get started! I thought about tiling to the ceiling but wasn't sure since our cabs don't go to the ceiling. We are going to add a taller crown but nowhere near ceiling height. That may be the subject of another post. Nosoccermom: great idea about hanging a balloon. I don't have photoshop but maybe I could cut and paste something there and post again. Hello everyone!! I NEED HELP!!! I purchased 2 Duke Oversized Pendants (16 inch overall diameter) in 2020 on Pottery Barn site. They make my whole kitchen!! The glass on one of them broke and Pottery Barn site says No Longer available! Ive been in tears for weeks!!! Can anyone tell me where I can find one of these?? My email is ginamt2@yahoo.com. oldalgebra- Your wooden box should work fine as a facade, but, to be to code, all the connections must be inside a proper electrical box, and that electrical box should have a cover on it. That means that you should leave a bit of length to the lamp cords as they need to go into the electrical ceiling box so they can be clamped, and code requires that all wire ends being connected need to protrude from the open electrical box by 6" while they are being worked on. If the ceiling box is already in place in the ceiling, I suspect that the electrician may install an extension ring to accommodate all the wires legally, and use a cover with a hole and cable clamp in it. In addition, the electrician needs room to work with the wooden box not in the way, so additional slack in the fixture cords is also necessary for that purpose. I'd install a couple of long screw eyes in the ceiling and into a joist and then hang the wooden box temporarily from these so that someone doesn't have to try to hold the box up while someone else does the electrical. If it were me, I'd have about an extra 2' of lamp cord for each of those fixtures to make it easier to do the electrical properly. By the way, how do you intend to securely fix the wooden box to the ceiling?
