Baby update :)

Baby Gabriel arrived at 11:57 last night. He is doing great, but in an isolet, and I think they told me on a cpap for apnea, but otherwise very healthy. 5# 9 oz. 17 1/2". He will not be at the shower, as he will be staying in the hospital until they are sure his lungs will keep working properly and there is no apnea. Lots of long black hair. He and mom did great! Mom's blood sugar stayed stable without help throughout labor so that was great. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! I just got the phone call, as they wanted to make sure I was up before calling.

AWWWWWW, The little one is soon to be here. I know you'll be glad not to be pregnant. The last month seems to be the hardest. My poor daughter couldn't even sleep with her son, He was over 9 lbs and looked like a watermelon in her tummy. Don't forget to put up pictures later. As for leaves they are great. If you happen to have an American water elm the leaves are so small I don't have to worry about copping them up. I just rake them right into the garden :) but if there large leaves mow over them, if you have a bag on the mower even better. In the spring I will turn the earth to get the leaves down in the soil to break down. Winter time it protects the plants. Then on the other hand I leave leaves all along the back of my fence for my garden snakes and lizards to hind and hibernate in winter. Hope that wasn't TMI....Barbara

House sparrows and bluebirds are mortal enemies; sparrows will build their nests right on top of the bluebird nestlings and kill them in this way. Watch for Dad bluebird trying to defend the nest. There should not be 2 nests in one box! Read an article on this; will try to find the link and post for you.

This week is 35 Vannie.I would like to see them stay in the oven for at least another week.In my opinion if they are doing good and mom is doing good the longer she can keep them in there the better.

Pammyfay, he is not actually related to me by blood. These girls have adopted us as thier parents since our DD was in 2nd grad with the new mom. Both of thier parents and step father are now gone. So we are mom & dad, as were thier parents to my DD. I have one grandson by DD, Damien, who is 9; two grandsons to be, come October when DS gets married, Manny 12, & Carmelo 7, and Gabriel makes number 6 for the "adopted" grands. I have four girls who call us mom & dad who are all friends of DD's. Between the four there are now 6 kids! I love being called mom & granny/grandma (depending on who is doing the calling!) May be changing that to the Polish version of grandma shortly, just cause we can. The kids are discovering the English/Polish audible translators on the internet, and the grands are having fun with it.

I did not know they made cpap machines so small. They are wonderful as my DH can tell you. You might have the mom ask if the baby needs a moniter to check the breathing at home. That could be a life saver if he does have shortness of breath. as sometimes babies forget to breath, especially tiny ones.

Marie, the hospital they are at is very good. If the baby needs a monitor at home, I am sure they will tell them, but I will mention it. Thanks.

omg had forgotten how small 5p9oz is! dd1 was a 5 pounder...i used to keep her in a laundry basket, lol...

if he needs any smaller size things, wal mart carries premie...

so glad mom is doing well, and didn't have any problems...

Susanjf, thanks for the info! He probably will. His aunt picked up a couple of premie sleepers for him today. I've already spent quite a bit for his shower gift, but might pick up a couple more things.

Gabriel might get to lose his cpap! He is doing really well. Mom got to see him without it today, as she went in just as they were finishing some of his care. It was the first time she has gotten to see his face since imediately after his birth.
