It also bugs me when people keep saying they should do something (i.e. update their house, take a vacation, whatever) and they never do it... they just talk about it. My Mom is really bad about this, drives me crazy.

People that have to add their personal comments while watching a news story or movie on TV.

Barking dogs. I don't live really close to anyone but the neighbor up the bayou has dogs that bark most of the day. At night, the neighbors down the bayou have dogs that bark most of the night. I have trained my dogs not to bark unless there is another dog or person on my place. I love quiet. When I hear dogs barking at night, I worry that they are barking at some of the wildlife. I don't know why people put up with their dogs barking constantly. They must never open their windows.

That's just one pet peeve. I have hundreds...well, dozens.
I must sound extremely grouchy...but so many things annoy me. I am just glad when I can come home...except for the damned barking dogs.

People blowing car horns.

I have a lot, but I'll mention two.
!. People who interrupt. When I am trying to say something, I'm afraid to take a breath, because the other person will jump in and I can't finish my thought. I even find myself talking faster and faster just to try to finish my sentence.

2. People, cars or trucks, who tail gate. I know it is not wise, but if I'm going the speed limit, and they are on my tail, I'll just slow down so they can either go around or follow me verrrry slooooow.

Why is it that when the elevator stops at a floor, the people try to get on first before letting the ones in the elevator out. It just annoys me to he!!.

People who beep you when the light just turned green one-millionth of a second ago! I never beep anyone in that situation. I beep only in dangerous situations, to warn other cars I'm in the way.

People who leave valuables in clear view in their car in this economy and then say "Gee, I can't believe my car got broken into. We left an Ipod, wallet and laptop out, but they did not take the ipod..."

Also, ditto for cell phone calls to the previous owner of my cell phone #. I actually called Alltel to ask how long a number remains unused before it is 'recycled'. Only 90 days. Six months after getting my new cell phone I am still getting calls about student loans (and other important stuff) for the person who had my number before I did.

Really bad profanity (f* word and others along that line) in public places, especially where there are children present. Maybe ok for a bar, for example, but certainly not for a restaurant!

TV shows that I'm watching and another show is being advertised at the bottom. And at the end, during the credits, they shrink them down teeny-tiny so they can advertise yet another show.
Hard enough to watch those crawls on news shows, I can only concentrate on one thing at a time!

Joanmn...I agree with you on shows being advertised during another show. But for me it's that darn notice telling us that in February all tvs are going digital. I think we all know that by now.

Skuffers! This has been bugging me lately! Not a big deal, but so annoying to me. People that skuff their feet as they walk. Especially now, in the winter, with boots. I was taught to pick up my feet when I walk. What in the world is it with all this skuffing now?!?!? I have a pretty long commute on 2 different trains, so I walk along with the masses and the skuffing is amazing. Pick up your feet, people!

If you have satellite radio at home, you can get the song name, album and artist on your TV screen. Something like that is not important to me, but the service is there if you wish to utilize it.

I'm with suzieque on the scuffing. DH is here almost all the time, and he walks around a LOT. We have all hard-surface floors, and the ka-whap, ka-whap, ka-whap becomes more annoying than a dripping faucet.

Someone who answers a cell phone and then proceeds to have a conversation on the cell while the conversation with me has been interrupted. I don't know how long they talk, because I walk away.

I'm getting grouchier about that one, probably because most of my second graders learned it, so why don't their parents?

The checker/bagger at the grocery store putting only 2 or three items in a bag. Geez.......I get home, and before I bring the groceries in, I rearrange them in the bags....

That's one of my husband's biggest pet peeves. So, for quite a while now we bring our own cloth/canvas bags into the store, and he bags our groceries. The checker/bagger always says, "Oh, I can take care of that for you," but my husband just says, "no, thank, I can handle it" and keeps on with what he's doing. The green bags that you can buy from Nugget Market hold a LOT, and they have a nice flat, reinforced bottom... And I also bought a couple of Lands' End totes specifically to keep in the trunk of the car for when we go grocery shopping.

Always a Peeve: People who act as though only they exist -- and you are, at best, invisible. This encompasses many of the above complaints about clods who walk, drive, talk on cell phones, play loud music, litter, belch, swear, block sidewalks or aisles, push onto an arriving elevator before passengers can exit, etc. They are aparently oblivious that they *are* clods and that they are annoying others; worse, they don't care! ("Others? What others?") There should be mandatory Re-Parenting Classes for these clods.

Another peeve: Commercials hawking medical devices to people on Medicare, saying, "It won't cost you a dime." The cost for these self-prescribed items is paid by all of us taxpayers when Medicare reimburses the company for the scooter, inhaler, portable oxygen, etc. If your MD thinks you NEED these, that may be a different story, but these ads are directed at consumers.

If I'm so important to a company, bank, service provider, why am I not put through to a representative immediately instead of spending 20 minutes on hold because "We are experiencing a high volume of callers right now." Businesses know when to expect a lot of callers. Hire more help!

I dislike the "Press 1 for English". Haven't heard that so much lately; just "Press 8 for Spanish" (in Spanish).

We have one neighbor who will let her dogs bark for hours and who plays taped music at her pool at a high volume. That's coming to a halt now that we and other neighbors don't hesitate to call the police. Third time they have to come out she gets a hefty fine. (If she still had a listed phone, we'd call her.)

Today it is people who litter our beautiful beaches.

Peeves... oh so many. People letting their kids run around in stores, restaurants and the like. Cell phones are becoming more and more of an annoyance. Are you REALLY that important that you have to be yakking on it while you're out in public? People who stop on the entrance ramp of the freeway. The ever-increasing core size on paper towels and toilet paper. The shrinking sizes of jars. I noticed the peanut butter jar that used to be convex is now concave. The silly "teasers" the "news" programs run are getting worse and worse. I'm waiting for them to come up with "will we have tornado's this morning? We'll tell you tonight at 10!"

I have solved the bagging issue at grocery stores though. I simply tell them I need to separate the order and there's not an issue. And it's true. I need to separate refrigerated/frozen from non. I don't always put away the non-perishibles immediately.

I am a cashier at a service/gas station and constantly people come in and say give me $--.-- on that car over there.All of our pumps are numbered and it would be really nice to hear someone say "may I have $10.00 on pump 1" sometimes this does happen but not very often.
Maybe just a little angry from bad night at work.

Angelaid - I couldn't agree more about the phone calls. Regarding visitations, DH was in and out of the hospital several times last year and at his request, he only 1 visitor other than me. Some patients in ICU had several visitors in and out all day and weren't very quiet at that. Quite annoying under the circumstances. The nurses just rolled their eyes. I guess that's another topic :-(

In lieu of both telephoning and visiting, I would recommend Caring Bridge. A friend went through a serious operation and long recovery last year. Her husband (then she, when she was better) kept friends and family updated through a "Caring Bridge" website. The website is created by the patient/family and updates are sent to those on the patient's e-mailing list with a link to the updated post.

So many mentioned, most bother me too.
This is the one that is really getting on my nerves. The 2 houses/families on the corner. So much garbage and crap in their yards, it blows down the street and in the trees across from them it looks like a dump. Tons of garbage and plastic bags/paper up in the trees and they never pick it up! I don't have to look at it unless I'm going to town, but it is the idea...how can people live like that?

My neighbors! They have 2 dogs that they never pick up after and 3 kids that play on the lawn rolling around then screaming, "ewwww, I rolled in dog crap". they never mow their lawn, rake leaves or pick up any branches or small twigs from the wind. Their yard is an embarrassing mess and we can't enjoy a nice quiet meal on our patio. In fact, we have just about quit going out there!

Oh, and I think one of my biggest peeves is the "forward button" on email. Why is it that so many people think that if something comes in an email, it must be true? Then what do they do? Hit that forward button and send it to the address book. Some won't stop there. Hit forums and post the hoaxes too. And of course they're the ones who get offended when you tell them what they did.

Oh and people that leave a message "call me right away" instead of giving an idea of what it's about. Why not just give an idea and let ME decide the priority? You may think that I want to know about little Suzie's first projectile vomiting session, but to me, it's a low priority.

*sigh* I am not alone. I've often wondered if I was just a cranky ol' b!tch because so many little things bother the crap out of me.

And now, for my latest pet peeves regarding words.

I am coming to detest the word Absolutely. I hear it everywhere, in every occasion. Did you watch Idol last night? ABSOLUTELY. I need to pick up bread at the store, want me to get you anything while I'm there? ABSOLUTELY. It drives me nuts.

And the other one isn't new by any means, it's the use of the word Like. I was watching the Bachelor a couple of weeks ago, have never watched this show before. A couple of the women (don't know their names) was talking to the hunky guy and used the word Like about every fifth word. How could you stand to be around someone like that for the rest of your life? It'd be a deal-breaker for me. Then the next morning, listening to the radio on the way to work and the female announcer was chatting and ... Like ... had to say Like about every ...Like fourth or fifth word to Like ... get her whole story out it was Like ... hard to follow along because I would Like ... get distracted by her Likes.

Oh, and the timing of commercials. I can't forget that one! Hubs and I watch TV while we eat ... now I know that's our own fault, but it really disturbs us to see commercials for Colon Cleanse, Stool Softeners, and other personal issues, while we eat! If these companies think that I will remember their names and buy them even tho they're offensive, they're wrong. I will remember their names and buy a competitor's product if I ever need to!

Ooops ... and another one. Just reading the end of Cynic's up above me and that reminded me ... people who just will NOT tell you what they want to tell you without you having to pull it out of them. Geesh. Friend: I really screwed up. Me: What'd you do? Friend: I ran that report. Me: What report? Friend: The special report. Me: Well, what happened when you ran it? Friend: It didn't work. Me: WHAT didn't work? What happened????? and on and on and on. Just tell me the whole story please, without all the drama!

Commercials, period! They are insulting. If I need a medicine, I'll go to the dr.

And the fact that all stations, even cable, show the commercials at the same time seems like a fairness violation of the FCC rules! You can't escape commercials just by flipping, so we mute them.

LMAO...When I like speak the like language to some of my young friends who always speak the like language, they like laugh at me, like I don't even know like how to talk or something. They like can then hear like just how they like sound when they like use like excessively.

They then can like see how stoopid their like language sounds.

In other words, I like to poke fun at them, but it does like little at getting them to like break the likehabit.

Just for fun, try it. Chances are they will like laugh at you.

I have a ton so I'll stick to what you mentioned first. News. I agree about the location not being at the top, or sometimes they post the city but no state and that doesn't help me with my bad geography.

And then there's the foreign headlines that they mix in with the local news, like they're enticing you to click on the story. And finally, when they put too much information in the headline when it's related to animal cruelty. Oh, and links that open in new windows.
