I purchased a set of try-ply Calphalon Contemporary cookware. Then, I purchased separate pieces of various brands depended on my needs. For non-stick, I have some Calphalon hard anodized and Lodge cast iron cookwares. Except for cast irons, most, if not all, non-stick cookwares have teflon or similar substance which is harmful when cook at high temperature. The fume is invisible and is known to kill indoor bird pets. Unlike other cookware, you should not preheat non-stick cookwares. It will make the cookware hotter than it should. If you want to be on the safe side, cast irons are best for non-stick and healthy to use too. Most come pre-seasoned and ready to use. Beside giving you some needed irons, cast iron cookware will give you some muscle too =o) If you're a serious cook, it's hard to stick with just 1 brand or 1 type of cookware. Nevertheless, chose the types that would best fit your cooking methods. ie: I like to brown meat or fish before putting it in the oven. I chose the Calphalon tri-ply stainless and cast irons so I could move from the cooktop straight to the oven and cook in high heat.

I had NO idea that this was a relatively common issue. I always thought that regular teflon use was not problematic. I only had one pan that I would use for eggs and such. This new set I purchased had two non-stick skillets. I didn't even think twice before using them. Had I thought of it I wouldn't have purchased the set in the first place. In a way, I am kind of relieved the bird is gone. I was dreading having the mess in my new kitchen. However, the sad part was that the bird was given to us as a gift after our last parakeet died of old age. At the time were kind of relieved to be done with the mess, but then our secretary gave it to us as a birthday present, and we obviously couldn't refuse the bird or take it back... She passed away last year due to breast cancer, so this little birdie was our last connection to her.

We decided to get a Moen faucet—and get 2 soap dispensers—one for hand and one for dish for the two holes. Found a couple of faucets that had separate handle w/pulldown nozzle on the separate spout but having handle on the spout is just cleaner look to me. And think I can install with the handle in the front vs the right side— and my garbage disposal has an air switch—the button on the counter to turn it on/off... I ordered replacement cover in the same black as faucet set
