Trip Report - Hickory Furniture Mart
Comments (12)hampton, I am only familiar with the Mart, since I haven't been to High Point where the stores are more spread around. At the Mart, everything is all under one roof so its probably the most convenient and comfortable if you have any physical limitations. I would check with customer service (I'm sure the number is on their website). They would most likely be able to provide assistance or recommendations. I know the Mart is has ramps if you needed a chair to take you from Point A to B. The Mart has many places to sit and rest if you need a break. They really go all out to make customers feel comfortable. I personally wear my Ecco walking shoes. Not the most stylish, but very foot-friendly. There are several Clearance Outlets right in the Mart with many chairs, sofas and occasional pieces on the floor. I would contact the Mart and they can send you a brochure so you can see which vendors are in the Outlets....See Morepaint colors to match hickory floors??? help soon!
Comments (1)Alright, I'll stick my 2cents in. Since she's asking for suggestions for both kitchen and family room, I assume she's got a clean slate to work with other than the hickory...no furniture to coordinate with. Seems to me that there are hundreds of shades that would work and be perfect...all depends on what she likes and how much light the rooms get. But perhaps this will be helpful: Hickory (from my recollection anyway) has a lot of yellow tones in it, so I'd be inclined whatever she does to go for a warm vs. a cool shade. If she chooses a white, it should be a creamy white rather than one with a blue or grey undertone. But she could go with a green, a yellow, a tan, red, organge or pretty much ANY color she likes, as long as she finds the right shade. Have you and she looked through the finished kitchen blog to see other kitchens with hickory cabinets? She might find that helpful. There are at least 7 kitchens that come up when you select under categories "cabinets" and then "hickory". One has a great rusty red paint, which I love. Another has a turquoise island that looks fabulous. I'm less enthusiastic about the one painted light blue. Here is a link that might be useful: finish kitchen blog -hickory cabinets...See MoreWhat Color Window Treatments? Floors? Accent Walls?
Comments (10)I agree that your wall color is throwing everything off. Warm and cool are tough to blend. You can make it look intentional by finding some patterned items and accessories that have warm tones and silver mixed together but in your case I think painting is the easiest solution. The same issue will happen if you pick gray floors. I would pick a light/medium brown/beige toned LVT with minimal pattern. There are tons of LVT choices. Have you decided on a brand yet? Wood look or tile look? Definitely bring the art down to people height. There is a tendency to want to "fill up" taller walls by hanging decorative items very high. But if you decorate nicely at people height, the tall ceilings and walls will look light and airy, not bare. If you decide on a new rug, try to get one big enough to fit the furniture. The rug you have now is pretty but is more suited to an entry or dining area because of the shape....See MoreWhat finish for basement accent furniture
Comments (0)We are finishing our basement and I need opinions in what finish a TV console and coffee table would look good. Floors are vinyl plank in "coffee bean," walls are SW Anew Gray, and bar cabinets are very dark brown, almost black.(look black in person but photograph very slightly brown.) I am such a matchy matchy person and not good at mixing colors or woods. We are getting a light gray sectional with teal accent pillows. Opinions?...See MoreLaurie
