Comments (4)Maple is known and widely used for it's pretty light and clear color. Not many people choose to stain it. However, if that is something you're really want, it can be done, and as an added bonus to staining the Maple, you can now use an oil poly instead of a water, making it much more durable over the long run. Comments (3)I'd use the same colors you have on the house -gray for the siding with white trim and white garage doors. You could also reverse it and use white for the siding and gray for the trim and garage doors, but I think that would highlight the garage more than the house. Comments (14)Have you considered this instead? - easier and looks great. Armstrong Plank Ceiling Had a different situation years ago (o.k. about 26 years ago) and put this ceiling up. I have a friend who now owns my previous home and the ceiling is still there and going strong. I like pine, but frankly, it's tough to paint and have look like anything. It's great natural on walls and if it's the look you're going for, o.k. on the ceiling. But in your situation, I'd personally go with this plank ceiling.
