Lighting plan for formal room

We're just about finished with the house design and are now working on the electrical & lighting design. Yesterday I had a meeting with the lighting specialist at a local supplier. For our formal living/dining room, we specified "wall washers" to light artwork and special features in the room.

The lighting specialist listed these: LL3 3-1/2 INSUL/ NON INSULHSNG & L3E1 WHIT 1 75W R20 EYEBALL TRIM. I am pretty sure they are Lightolier brand.

Here's the problem - our lighting budget is more than we expected, though I don't think it is totally out of line for a complete house. We've gone though the list item by item and found places we can change to less expensive options and recognize which places we're willing to splurge to get the look we want.

But we do not know enough about the recessed lights to know if these are the right choice, if there are less expensive options that would do the same thing or if we're totally on the wrong track.

I've posted a room plan on my blog with the fixtures in about the locations the lighting specialist placed them and a complete description of the room, the features we want lit, etc.

Here is the room and (in case the link does not work) below is a link to the blog:

Red stars are the recessed lights, yellow are the chandeliers.

Thanks!

Anne
