warmfridge, me correct anyone about a backsplash? I am among the most ignorant in that realm. I was curious and wanted to see what you thought was perfect so entered those words you gave above in a search and went to images and found that picture. Aside from not being suitable material, is that the color you are looking for, or too green? (Sorry, OT again... June, yikes! Someone should be calling me tomorrow with information about delivery date on the range. I guess we can wait but I do wish they wouldn't get over-eager and start marketing and promising something they are not ready to deliver on. Is that common practice? I'll post on AF if I hear anything.)

Yeah, I know, not the best salesman. We aren't selling our house any time soon, probably in about 2 years, so I do want something that is pretty neutral or universally appealing. This doesn't seem like a crazy color to me (and I am a little color shy)--it seems like a pretty neutral green, no? Anyone have this marble, or an opinion on how it goes with verde butterfly? I hope I'm not being too much of a pain with all these questions. I'm just so anxious to get this decision made, and I really appreciate how helpful everyone on this forum is.

I am really stuck on: (what kathec already wrote above) Your contractor should NEVER have done this without asking you!! It is up to YOU whether to pick an alternative or wait 6 weeks. Not your contractor. It looks like you are doing a beautiful high end kitchen. Is this the backsplash you want? Please don't let the fact that it's already done pressure you. You do not have to "get used to" anything-this is your kitchen. You are paying for it! The contractor did this without your approval, he can take it off and YOU tell him what your backsplash will be. This is all his expense. You did not approve this. If you don't want it, don't settle. Your decision, not his. Hang in there! Gosh, I have been there!! I'm in the midst of a 1 year+ reno and believe me I know how exhausting it is to just want to try to stay on schedule and if you are at the point where your sanity is more important than a backsplash, please know that 99% of the population (not the 1% of all of us TKO'ers!) will think your kitchen is absolutely fabulous whatever your backsplash is. I just don't want you to settle because you think you have to because it's done. Wishing you the best :)

I also agree with Ellendi. Your kitchen is lovely as it is. You might run into a problem at the end of your wall if you want to bring the BS around the corner because as I see it there is no 4 inch piece on the end. LOL Now I want to slap you upside the head for feeding my addiction. I just wanted to look to see if I could find a pretty tile for you and now HAVE to go back and order some for me. NO I do not need more tile. NO I do not need to add more weight to this house. YES I am a glass and tile addict. Do they have some self help group for this?? All joking at you of course. I needed an excuse to go to town. Seriously there are some really pretty blackish tiles out there. Link below to just some I found while trying not to look. I can not see your granite well enough to match some thing up. I am way too out there for my choices anyway.If you do do black tiles I would go with black grout or very dark gray. White or light grout would be too in your face on this.You want yout tiles to shine at you not the grout lines. You really do not want to take away from your lovely counter.The tiles on mesh are simple to install. Leaning under cabinets to grout and clean up is back breaking. And you will need to have your plugs and switches brought out from their places the thickness of the tiles. I am not sure how hard that is to do because I cheated mine when I did it but I do not recommend it for a professional look. Some one mentioned painting the back of clear glass. This works just fine just do not get it too thick on the glass or it might want to come loose. I have used oil paints (they take a long time to dry), Acrylic paints, modge podge and glitter, Alcohol inks are really fun too. If possible have your glass pieces already cut to fit before painting because the paint wants to chip when you cut the glass. Chris Here is a link that might be useful: Black tiles by the pages.
