Pendant over bar table?

Take a look at this picture, this is what I was orignally after:

I like that pendant a lot and would prefer to go with something just like it. I also like the height of it.

Now take a look at the actual table in my home theater:

With it all in position, I started questioning having the pendant that low. That table will be walked around frequently and the pendant will block the posters.

How will that look? Will it look bad like that? Should I put the pendant up higher? I'm really not into interior design or lighting so I don't know what looks best. I also don't know if having the pendant up that high will be a constant glare in the eyes of anyone sitting at the table.

Any advice? Thanks!

If you are worried about seeing your posters you could think of a similar pendant that is all glass.

Thats an interesting point you bing up there dmlove. I never thought of that. Although our current side table lamps are those cheap IKEA frosted rectangular lights that sit right on the table and are open on top. My wife seems to read OK with them (I guess I should verify this...). The pendants I had in mind would be lightly frosted. I was thinking the Hampton Bay Architect if I can get it in Canada. This is the double that you speak of. They show it with a counter top height table and higher chairs - very casual. It could look nice in certain settings. It all depends on the space, and it's furnishing. Photos of your space would help discern if it would enhance the kitchen or look out of place.

Glass inserts in cabinets with lights inside cabinets can brighten the room. A patterned drum shade in fun latter/color would add some sparkle. Faceted square crystal hanging over island would reflect light. Pretty cushions on dining chairs will bring in brightness! But I really think the light fixtures work in you kitchen. Maybe lively wallpaper in the table area and new cushions in chairs would give you the big pop you are looking for?
