One more question--pretty yarn ID?

Here's one more thing that came of that expedition--I got a bag full of several skeins of gorgeous types of yarn--most of them had labels but this one (in two different colors) had none...does anyone recogize this yarn?

OH, and would it matter to someone that the blue one had started to be crocheted into something, but I took it all out and it's the same weight as one that had never been unraveled, so I guess the same amount is there? It looks like it is a bit creased, but would the creases come out with time or are they in there permanently? Should I straighten it? Thanks again again :)

That's it, justgotabeme! Do you know all this from working in the fabric shop? Or do you do some kind of yarn work?

The other yarns in the bag are Lion Brand Trellis and Caron Pizazz -- together they look delicious enough to eat :)

WRONG!! the white basketweave pictured is a crocheted pattern using regular 4 ply yarn (Red Heart Super Saver, about 48 ounces) with a double crochet front & back post. It is the afghan that I crocheted and as many members of this site know, I only crochet. Have dabbled with knitting but working with two needles seems strange to me after crocheting for close to 40 years. The Bernat pattern is a crochet pattern done with chunky yarn and I linked to that site to give dllfb a sense of how much yarn she needed.

Yes, it means the same thing. But it sounds like they just want you to pull the yarn until it breaks, doesn't it? Of course, this would stretch the yarn and make it limp, so don't even think about it. Some patterns use this term when they are advising you to change colors.

Sheila, I can't help with the yarn - sorry! :( I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, and now I have a cardigan with sleeves a couple of shades darker than the body of the sweater. I get MORE compliments on that sweater! People even comment that they like the sleeves a different color. Who knew! Donna

You are very welcome Fly. I just happened to have gotten a bag full of yarn a month ago or so, at the thrift store I worked for and now do volunteer work at, and it had some of that in it. I've already packed it away for later since I don't have time for crafting at the moment, but I remembered it was Lion Brand. I do remember a lot from working in fabric and craft stores, but I also do just about anything there is to do. I'm sort of a Jayne of all trades so to speak.

Ah yes, the thrift store bag...that's where these came from too! I consider such purchases the purest expression of my past life as a magpie, since I have *no* knowledge of knitting/crocheting, I just like pretty yarn LOL! Good idea to volunteer at the thrift shop, although at ours the employees aren't allowed to purchase anything for three days. That would drive me crazy. We found something I've been looking for *forever* yesterday, some excellent-condition interesting-lined truly Danish teak nesting tables--they went out yesterday and I plucked them right off the floor--if I'd had to wait 3 days they'd definitely have been gone with the active vulture population around where I live :)

I have to say that it sure did make me want to preen my feathers when one employee said "oh good! You're coming to my line! You always find the coolest stuff!"

Now what thrift store vulture wouldn't remember that FONDLY? :)
