Help with getting rid of pet odor on ceramic or slate tile
Comments (2)If the slate looking tile is "hard slate" or "porcelain" it is not very porous. If it is "soft slate" is is very porous. Regardless of what the tile is made of, the grout will soak up urine/poo and it is impossible to get it out. Grout that is mixed/poured right will be less porous. However, the soupier the grout the easier to install, then the owner is left with lots of pinholes where the air bubbled out. Drop a few drops of water on the "tile" and see how fast it absorbs. If it sits there in a puddle, the tile is not porous. I would think covering the tile/grout with the enzyme for getting rid of urine would make a difference for the better. No amount of scrubbing will get the odor out of the grout....See MoreGetting rid of new paint odor- tips?
Comments (10)yes, the poly is bad. My friend had her floors redone when she was pregnant. they advised her to move out of the home for at least a week. She was able to stay at her parents house. The paint smell usually goes away quickly (couple of days) after I paint I usually close the door to the room and leave the windows open for a couple days. Once I had to kilz a room during the winter. The smell was so horrible we turned off the heat, opened all our windows and took our two dogs and left for the day. I didn't realize it would smell so bad. We had to use the kilz paint because we had some water damage....See MoreMusty odor in gas fireplace after rain..how to get rid of it

Comments (4)I agree with roarah. Debra Lynn-Dadd always advises heat to off-gas VOCs. Close off the bathroom, heat, air out, and repeat many times. When you're not doing a heating cycle, try to keep the window open and a fan blowing outside, or keep the bathroom fan running. Close and tape over the HVAC vents to and from that bathroom so that the fumes don't get around your house....See Morejcrowley99
