Good Morning, It's Raining

It is 33 out this morning in central Indiana and there is a fine rain coming down. I just went out in it to feed the cats. I have my sweet potatoes in the oven for our birthday dinner at 12:30 today. I have to clean my strawberries and slice my cucumbers and then get the chicken in the oven. I will have to also cook the potatoes and get them mashed and I think as far as the food I will be done. How is your weather this morning? I hate mud! We still have a lot of snow though.

All's quiet this Sunday morning - so far. Also expecting some rain then it changes to snow showers or flurries practically every day next week. Originally the weatherman was warning that a "clipper" was coming through, but now he doesn't expect much accumulation.

Today (Sunday,10 am) it's sunny and warmish for this time of year 38 degrees. Rain or snow due Monday night. But in the 30's all week long.

I remember a few years back, someone posted pics of their hosta growing in a bog. I think the key is that the crown itself is not allowed to sit in water. I mean, I have hosta that have been sitting in water for weeks to root a broken crown.... they're not rotten. Besides, where hosta is native, gets a TON of precip! I personally think they've gotta be loving it. We've had 2" in the last 24 hours!

Moni, are you all moved into your new home now? Nita, have a good trip and say hi to everyone for me! Went to see the movie first. What a fun movie! Made me want to get up and dance, and I don't even dance! LOL! I was surprised that there were so many men in there too. Was also surprised that the back lot near the theater (a really small one) was packed at 2 pm. Everyone out there was buying Mamma Mia tickets and I almost didn't go then. But the theater wasn't packed but did have a lot more people than normal for that time of day. I can't wait to take Lauren when I'm off at the end of the week. Got the gift I was going to get and then picked up dinner for me and Alex, he wanted chicken strips and I wanted sushi. I love the nearby sushi place, they have a super dragon roll that I'm addicted to: avacado, raw fish, smoked eel, asperagus and tempura battered shrimp and covered in fish eggs and a special sauce. It's sooo good. I bought two since there was a 20% off coupon in the paper that I clipped. Eating the other one for breakfast in the morning. Alex told me after I got home that he had to medicate Luther, we had a big storm come through for about an hour, he said and Luther was "flipping out". Poor dog. I'm kinda glad it rained, though, everyone's grass is getting brown and now I don't have to water the garden. Hope everyone had a good day. I now have to go do some laundry and get the gift ready for tomorrow. I may go sit out in the sunroom and read. Much more fun than pulling weeds!

Sue, I missed what happened that you aren't walking well--?? What happened? Hope it continues to get better. It's another yucky day here. Been raining ever since our GS got here Wednesday. He's been such a help. He moved a large armoire from one bedroom to another, including moving 2 TV's in the process and he helped Harry put together the new TV stand for our new TV which will be delivered next week. Plus, you have to love a guy who eats anything you put in front of him. We hadn't seen him since he was a teen--now he's 24--and it's so nice getting to know him all over again. He's very bright and reads a LOT! Wish he could stick around longer but he leaves tomorrow for Miami to visit his other grandmother and relatives. He's a joy! This afternoon is the big SEC Alabama-UF game so we're going to tailgate at home. I have shrimp cocktail, chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, Fritos w/guacamole, pretzels w/mustard and an olive-pickle plate. Later I'll make a pizza. I'll make brownies later to go with the peppermint stick ice cream, too. Hope you all have a great day. And get better soon, Sue.

My day will include an excursion to Costco. I saved up my pennies for a long time to buy a new TV, and bought it on Thursday. Then Saturday the new Costco coupon booklet arrived in the mail. That same set will be $300 cheaper on Jan. 5th. We hadn't set it up yet, so... I will take my receipt to customer service and see if I'll have to physically bring it back, return it and buy the same thing again next week, or if they will honor the coupon without me doing all that. I've had good experiences with them, so I hope for the best. (The TV is a huge blessing, and I promise not to complain even if the discount becomes a hassle.) It's cool but sunny. I may be forced to check out Ross too, 'cause on Tuesday there is a 10% discount if you're 55 or older.

The sky is overcast here in my part of Ohio, but it's just a fine layer of it....looks like the sun could peek through now and then. It's in the high 30s already. Supposed to start precipitating sometime tonight. What we get will be determined by the temperatures. Supposed to last about 24 hours, then off/on snow all week long.

Good Morning!
It's 45 up here at the lake! I didn't expect to see that when I looked at the thermometer just now! The weather guesser is sounding like we might avoid that foot of snow that they were talking about yesterday!!! I hope so! I don't want to have to drive in it tomorrow!

I think that we are going to run to go poke around at the Goodwill store later. I need a pan that I can use to make my laundry soap!

It's 45 here and the sun is shining. It is supposed to cloud up this afternoon and start storming until tomorrow morning.
Sue....your meal sounds sooooo good. I don't have the foggiest idea what to fix for supper.

Well, it's 16Âº here and partly cloudy....also quite slippery in the parking lots due to melting yesterday. I'm just going to fix a soft cooked egg and toast for a late breakfast, and think about supper later. (Probably soup)

It's fairly warm here this morning....72Â° and our high is supposed to be 75Â°. But then we have a cold front coming next week and it will be cold again. I am definitely ready for Spring!

We had a few dribbles of rain this morning but now it is sunny and nice outside.
I am making a loaf of bread using the 5 minute a day Artisan recipe. This time I have it in a loaf pan instead of free form....hope it turns out well.
