dmary,,,,,,,please do not listen to them on this. We had two lids(unit with the glass) and two tops that the lid attaches two replaced under the protection plan. Make sure you have them lift up the top and look under there--you will really find rust........the rust will fall into the suspension springs and drive you nuts( squealing noise). If you have the protection plan call the lemom number printed in the manual and tell them to upgrade you to an HE5t front load washer .............we got rid of the Oasis as they are junk and we had many service calls on washer and dryer and they upgraded us at no cost...........call Sears Source ONe and talk to them...............

thanks for your reply..i need all the info i could get..they agreed to change the dryer but i dont want either of them...they keep saying that my washer is working well..but im disgusted at this point ..i dont want to keep this model..id rather upgrade to something else..!

anyone else with this problem?...id love to hear..still fighting with sears they want 365$ for the lid..(from me).and imagine a spent a fortune on extended warranty....(sigh.)

they decided that sears will pay for the rusted lid(according to the rep she said that its a manufacturing defect..)365$ but i have to wait a month before i get the part...

Hello dMary,,,,,,,,,,,,well when the tech comes to put your new glass lid on make sure he lifts up the top that the lid attaches to,,,,,,,,,,,have your camera and take some pics and make sure he puts it on the service slip that that part is also rusted(look with a flashlite under the top not the lid ). Check where the rust is falling into where the suspension springs sit. You got to keep after them dMary.............you paid for the protection plan...................why have you not gone back to talk to the store owner or manager???????????????

hi mutta...well i got someone to pry open the top and took alot of pictures..unbeleivable...its a piece of junk..the whole top is rusted..the service man is supposed to deliver the new lid..but my lawyer said to refuse the top and insist on a new machine...wish me luck..and by the way merry christmas.!

dMary make sure they do not replace your Oasis with another Oasis................keep up the battle as you said they would replace the dryer now go after the washer but not another set of Oasis..................Merry Christmas.............

update........well sears changed the washer lid and we opened the top mutta ,like you said and the serviceman insisted that all that rust was cosmetic...these people are sounding like mc'donalds.!..i think all these servicemen at sears have the exact same speech like they are brainwashed or something..anyhow my lawyer was here and took alot of pictures,she's sueing them..its enough with their stories..we are VERY TIRED..let you know whats next..HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Let me see now--------the sears rep told you it was a manufacturing defect------------yet the service man replaced the same top with no paint on it (underneath)? It will be full of rust in a short time dMary............I know, I have been there...............where did you buy your set? Go see the store manager. Happy New Year. does this rusting thing happen on the Whirlpool Cabrio models with the glass lid?

you know i wouldnt be suprised,johnner1999.whirpool makes the kenmore oasis so would think,its made the same..look at my other post with the pictures!

I saw your photo's -- but it appears (please correct me if I am wrong) but your lid is all metal and the newer Cabrio is all glass?

What causes this in the 1st place?

johnner1999,its on the top where the lid is connected,you have to pry open the top not the lid,i have the glass lid ,but im not talking about the glass....manufacturers defect is what i assume..mutta who is also on this forum had the same problem,i started searching because i would have rust particles in my bleach dispenser..

We had the same problem. The tech came out for our dryer. He was the third tech. He asked if we had many error codes on the washer. We do. He pulled the top and sure enough it was rusting in four places. Totally not acceptable for 11 month old machines. They are leaving neaxt week. Sears is picking them up. Now we must decide what to replace them with.
