What Are Your Favorite Gardening Gadgets ?
Comments (39)This will sound a bit silly, but we garden a relatively large area, and I use and really love the almost fifty-year-old Ford tractor, which moves compost, manure & mulch, mows the field and woods roads, and picks up and moves rocks. I made fun of my husband when he bought it second hand about 12 years ago, but I probably use it about as much as he does now. As I age, having a machine to help with the heavy chores is really nice. Like duluthinbloomz4 I love my scuffle hoe - cuts both coming and going, and doesn't need lifting - just shuffle it back and forth to get rid of weeds. I like goatskin gardening gloves since I can throw them in the washing machine when they get too grubby, but they are tougher than fabric gloves and quite flexible. I love my straight edged spade, which I use for edging as well as for digging in soft soil. It has a D shaped plastic handle on a wooden shaft which is warmer and has less vibration than metal. I'm not sure that any of those qualify as gadgets, but they are my favorite and most-used tools....See MoreWhat is your favorite kitchen gadget under $25?
Comments (54)I print out recipes from on line all the time, but any drop of water will make the ink from the inkjet run and make a total mess of the recipe. So then it dawned on me. I have a clear plastic clipboard from staples. I clip the recipe wrong side down on the clipboard. Then I flip it over. I can read the recipe through the clear plastic, the plastic protects the paper and is easy to clean, and the clipper part holds the recipe up at an angle so it's easier to read. I love it when things work out like that!...See MoreLee Valley
Comments (10)I have been in several Lee Valley Stores in Canada and they are amazing! One of the best purchases that we made was the cone coffee filter holder---$3.30. It mounts on the inside of the cabinet door and you refill it once in a while. Just perfect for storing your filters. Page 219 in the hardware catalog. It is really mind boggling when you are at the store as they carry all of this stuff that is in the catalog. It is also a woodworker's paradise. They have a woodworker's shop at the back of the store and I think they also teach woodworking classes. They also are very prompt at responding to any email questions that you may have (been there) and the catalogs are beautiful when you get them....See MoreWhat's your favorite cool gadget?
Comments (20)I LOVE LOVE LOVE my goggles that are the kind meant for chopping onions. They're so cute too, being pink. You put those suckers on and will never shed another tear for an onion! :) I also love my mini (Cuisinart?) food chopper. It's like a tiny version of the standard size and is just a heck of a lot easier to use when you're chopping something small enough like nuts or bread (for bread crumb toppings), etc. The one I have was a hand-me-down so pretty old...so any tiny one would do I'm guessing. I love my Zyliss rotary cheese grater, and also my microplane grater/zester for smaller jobs like just grating fresh parm. on some pasta that's already on my plate. It could do some bigger jobs too though as these things work VERY well and fast! I love gigantic tongs (the all-metal kind that pro cooks use)....See Morea2gemini
