To better help your choice of cultivars I suggest you look at the latest NTEP results for KBG in the transition area, particularly at the North Carolina location. http://www.ntep.org/data/kb05/kb05_09-10/kb05_09-10.pdf go to page twenty. Seems like the top one in NC is Nuglade, followed closely by Rhapsody and Shiraz. There are about a dozen that are close together in the 7's, which is definitely nice turf. You then might want to read their tech sheets to see which ones have the best shade tolerences, and heat/drought tolerences. Then you can make up your own mix if you want. Bedazzled wasn't included in the latest trials, but it was in the last one, where is was midpack in North Carolina.

The first two fruits have been cut apart (see below) and their seeds have been washed and are in the process of drying. A germination test is being done, with 20 seeds from each fruit, sown between moist paper towel and kept warm using a Jiffy heatmat. Expected germination is in 7-14 days. Once there is germination, the seeds will be sent out.

If you're in the Montreal area and interested in a plant swap click and post here. If we have enough locals interested it's a good way to get rid of some of your extras or divisions to good homes and get something else in return. If you're interested, speak up and we'll start trying to find a time and place that makes most people happy. BP

Thanks, Rhonda, that is an interesting site. I bookmarked it to look at later when I have more time. Suzieque, the site has some interesting info about various subjects. Try this: Count the number of times a cricket chirps in 15 seconds, and add 37. No, you didn't just calculate your age in cricket years - you measured the temperature outdoors in degrees Fahrenheit. You just used a rule of thumb. Linda Here is a link that might be useful: rules of thumb
