There was a whole lot of pinging going on this evening in our house. Two batches of Annie's Salsa.

Lily helped every step of the way.

What a great helper! No tomatoes here yet for salsa or anything else, but soon. Very soon.

Tomorrow night will be dill beans and I'll just can whatever is left, but the dills come first.

I love that "ping", it's a great sound, isn't it.

Someone ought to write a baseline to that treble "ping, Ping, Ping!
I have not been playing the "ping song" yet....but soon....maybe a spiced peach preserves next week.

Wow!! Lucky! The bottom pic of the ping that's flowering, although the flower looks more white because of the flesh of the camera. I can still tell it is violet and with round petals, and adding the familiar shape of the leaves. I can tell this one is P. X 'Titan', a mexican hybrid that can get quite large. The most easiest way to identify your pings is not only their leaves but also the charateristics of the flowers. So you gonna have to wait for the rest to bloom. Good luck with your pings.

I think it is another plague! LOL....part of the 'It was too cold for too long and now it's hot!' issue we're having. Everything is blooming at once and all the bugs are out - in droves! I think these are the beetles that start out as white grubs. I know I have few white grubs in my yard, so they must migrate in some capacity from other neighboring yards. With such a large number of lizards and geckos killed off, I think we're in for a very buggy spring! But -- at least the COLD weather is gone! What a winter this was!

The inward slope in the pinebaron picture is what I have seen recommended in a Schluter video; however, since the pictured shower does have a low curb, one sloped toward at drain at the entrance probably would have also worked. Schluter sells presloped underlayment for the pans, and they are designed to facilitate installing the linear drain. It all looks very good in their videos. The one big advantage of a standard pre-sloped pan/underlayment is that its even slope in one dimension will give you more options for the tile floor. If you use a pan that has more of a shallow bowl shape with a drain in the middle, you need to use small diameter tile or cut larger tile to allow for all the angle changes in the floor. When its an even slope in one direction you can use larger format tile with very little cutting. Another item to consider is that when you have a curbless or very low curb shower, you should also waterproof the bathroom floor using the same membrane that is under the shower floor, to allow for water that splashes out of the shower. In some cases they also install a floor drain, but that may be overkill if you have at least some type of curb (1/2"?) to keep the water in the shower. Bruce

61 half-pints of tuna. 29 pints of pickled beets, 10 half-pints of raspberry jam. Too many pings to count.

Boy, do I wish I had a helper like Lily. There's just something about a furry companion hanging around while you work.

OH MY GOSH Lily is adorable..I can't wait for the Eastern Wa field tomatoes to make their way over here!!! I sooooooo need to make some more salsa..

Linda you're so lucky to have Annie's salsa all made. I bet you're looking so forward to trying it out. I was going to make it last year when I was in Canada on holiday because here we don't get canning jars or equipment. But we got too busy to stay in the kitchen there but I do hope to make it one day.

Lily looks like she's glad to lie down after all that work!

11 pings for my Raspberry Chocolate jam (that stuff is awesome), but my Roasted Garlic Tomato soup went to the freezer. More Annie's Salsa this week...a tad short on 'maters right now. Sure wish I had a helper like Lily.!

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon :-) I wish I had a great helper like Lily too - she is adorable!

And Annie's Salsa is on my "wish list" too - I just have to find some great tomatoes and a little free time. My helpers seem to demand a lot of attention when I try to do a long project LOL!

My kitchen has been pinging, too. I love that sound! I've made batches of raspberry-plum jam, apricot jam, peach jam, cherry jam, jalapeno pepper jelly, and bread & butter pickles. I've given away at least a dozen jars already - I rarely eat jam, but I love making it!
