Thanks for the help! I was thinking the Chef for the speed oven but I don't know if the "Master" part makes it easier/more likely to make the most of the technology. For the washer/dryer, it is going on a 2nd floor and the appliance dealer is telling me that Miele doesn't recommend putting theirs upstairs. He is telling me that the Electrolux has a better suspension. I looked at the Thermador induction but the higher end one is $500 more than the Miele and I couldn't get a confirmation that it allows bridging (for griddles, grills, etc), whereas I got the NJ people to confirm it for Miele. I also like the timers on the Miele. The Kuppersbusch looks great and has a bridge visible on it in pictures but I haven't been able to see one in person and I'm hesitant to get something that isn't pretty common locally in case of issues. The Whirlpool freezer is going in a pantry. It seems like a less complicated proposition just to keep things frozen so it seemed like a good place to save some (or a lot!) of money. I'd love to hear if the Whirlpools are reliable. I also hate how loud and constant ice makers are when we really don't use that much ice. Does anyone have an opinion about whether the speed oven really is a good replacement for a second oven? My contractor thinks I'll regret not having a "real" second oven but two of these plus a microwave is a lot of space and money. It feels like if I spend well here I can have a good shot at not needing to buy any of these again for a long, long time, but I do worry that the higher prices won't really translate into higher reliability. A friend has a Viking range that she despises and has had serviced 3 times in four years, and it certainly wasn't cheap.

Hi everyone in the laundry room. We received our Electrolux 60 series washer last Friday. A big mistake was made by me and now I'm in a big pickle. First off we purchased it from AJ Madison and it had to trek all the way to Florida. After they unboxed it, it appeared fine. Signed and the delivery men left, I was to have a private installer set it up. Well I noticed a small dent on right side back corner midway up, no big deal (minor). Then like it just happened before my eyes the front panel right side had a bad dent. It appears that also the control panel shifted a bit to the left. AJ Madison conned me into 10% off after a few phone calls and pictures sent, my other half who purchased it for me was not happy I made a deal. At this point neither the shipper or AJ Madison will do anything about this. It now is in dispute with Citi and I fear I have not a chance in hell. I have since put it on craigslist for $800...no takers yet. I'm too picky and am so tired of getting crap, and were supposed to just accept it. I will not! A new unit is coming from Home Depot Tuesday and they will install it free. In the case I need to ship the damaged unit back who might I call to pick it up and ship it back to NY cheap as possible? It has been untouched except blue tape taken off and film on door, almost was going to keep it. If I did that I would never be happy with it after $919.00 spent. Home Depot is costing me $31 more tax included in that price. Bummed completely and cannot wait for this to be over period!

elyash...Larsi is the expert on the Electrolux 60 & 70 series (I own the 70 set) but let me try to answer your questions. Washer 1. Hand Wash you may never need it but it's nice that it's there. The Hand Wash cycle has more "motion" (tumbling) if you will, than the Delicate cycle; where there are more longer pauses between direction changes. 2. Steam Prewash (I haven't used this yet) but makes sense for really filthy clothes best for oily type of stains to relax fibers before washing. 3. Wool (haven't used this either) uses very specific settings (warm wash, cool rinse, gentle tumbling, medium spin, normal soil level), you can't modify these settings. 4. Extended Spin (haven't used it) seems like overkill to me. The 60-70 series maximum spin speeds are 1300-1400 RPM and only at the very end of the spin cycle. The clothes are really almost dry at that point and a few more minutes won't do much more (unless you have some really heavy absorbent material). 5. Custom Options : Every cycle has a water temp, spin speed, soil level (time adjuster) and available options for that cycle. Depending on the cycle you may have the option to...Add Steam, Eco Friendly, Allergen, Extended Fresh, Shrink Guard, Add More Water, Stain Pretreat, Fresh Rinse, Extra Spin, PreWash, Warm Rinse, Delay Start. 6. 3 Favorites vs. 1. Say you wash the same thing using the same settings. Instead of turning the dial to the cycle you want and going through all the settings you want, you can do it once and save it. Then when you go to wash that same load again you just go into Favorites, select your saved cycle and press "Go". The 70 will store 3 of your "Favorites" vs. just 1 on the 60. 7. Most of the wash cycles are hidden under Specialty, you'll mostly use the main cycles on the big dial. Dryer 1. Different cycles have different options. I to use Medium Low (heat) on which ever cycle will allow me to use it. Some cycles will only allow "more dry or less dry or damp dry etc). It really doesn't matter too much what the dryer says the cycle is for (towels, casuals etc) the dryer has sensors to determine how far along the drying process is and adjusts accordingly. 2. I have used steam but not "Fast Steam". It's really just a fine mist sprayed into the drum. It's not true steam at all. No, you will need to iron. 3. The use of a drying rack is recommended for washable woolen items. Check the use/care label for proper fabric care. 4 I don't own anything woolen so I don't know if you would have to take some items to the dry cleaners. 5. Personal preference. 60 series most controls are laid out and have easy access, 70 series options are under the "options" section for each cycle. I hope that helps a little. One thing that stood out..the Heavy Duty cycle which is the longest cycle I think is only 1:31 , and sanitize cycle I think said :91 ..personally I would want much longer wash times. And that :15 minute wash cycle I laughed at...what use would that be other than if used for extra rinses. But now remember I really know very little about FL washing.
