Our forecast for Saturday was 100% chance of rain, possible tornadoes and large hail. Luckily we only had a little rain, lots of thunder and no severe weather! On Sunday the temps reached 78Âº! It was such a lovely day to enjoy the outdoors. My youngest son, Chad, rode his horse for awhile and I snapped a quick picture. She is so beautiful and good natured! He just broke her a fews months ago and is training her to be a roping horse. She is a very fast learner!

Basically quiet. Weather has been a bit damp in spots (but some sun, too). We've mostly been hanging around the house getting a few things done. Did go out to grab a quick dinner Sat. evening, and burgers last night.

Still haven't gotten used to having nothing to do on Sunday. You see, all my life (57 years now) Sunday was family day at my parents' house. Even with mom in an apt. the past few years, some of us still gathered there on Sun. So I spent my Sunday afternoon doing her grocery shopping, then going to her place. Now, she's gone, and I don't have any Sunday responsibilities--it's like I don't know what to do with myself on Sunday (and it doesn't help that DH says, almost every week, "I guess Sundays seem kind of odd to you now")

Of course, the weekend isn't over yet--we still have today. And then--YIPPEE--Dh goes back to work for 2 whole days, then is off until April 1 (lot of vacay he has to use up). So I'm looking at a really, REALLY long weekend next weekend--LOL!

That's a great picture MaryAnn. She is a beautiful horse. I'll bet Chad is a handsome yung man too. I can't see his face very well. He sure looks like he's having a good time.

I took Anna shopping and cleaned out the shed in the back yard this weekend. Things just just put in there when we had it built. I finally rearranged it and have a place for everything. It feels so good.
I did have to put some things back in there that didn't belong, but that is only til the 7th of March when I have my second yard sale in two months. The reason I'm having another one is because I have some big items from the shed to sell that I didn't have time to get to for the last one.

Morning Anj and everyone, Not much planned, sort of misting rain so can't work in the yard. I'm almost finished anyway, and we really need to get the rain. Had the little GD yesterday, we had to have a "tea party" which consisted of milk and ritz crackers! Ha ha She mostly likes pouring it from one cup to the other! I just went to Olive Garden on Friday for lunch with a friend. Hadn't been for awhile either. Love those breadsticks! Yummy! I plan to spend a portion of today teaching the new puppy that she has to stay in the family room. Kitchen and dining area are one step up, but we think it keeps the hair more controlled and keeps the wood floors from getting all scratched up if they just stay in the family room only. I took the baby gate down and so far I have only had to put her back in here twice. Now she is just sitting there looking into the room but not trying to go in. I am sure we will have to do this routine several days until she really "gets it". My current and previous dog were really good about it--no matter who came to the door or walked in, they do not go further than the doorway! Love it! Better check out the other forums and go get some "day" clothes on. Nice to hear from you Anj. You have to hire a babysitter? I thought your folks lived right next door--or maybe they are going out with you. Hope you have a nice Valentines. Luvs

Morning! Here it is the 9th....where has the time gone? Luv - how great you are to care for your elderly friend, and it must be a joy and a sad thing for her to be moving into an assisted living residence. Joy to be near her family and sad to be moving farther from you. My indoor halloween decorations now fit into one bin so wasn't hard to put things away and kind of sad to say, tombstones are all gone. They were fun each year, but also a trial to put up each year. Isn't house cleaning just the most fun thing you have ever done? When we rebuilt out home we put in all wood floors...didn't realize how much the carpets hid. We have two large dog and two (hairy) cats. The dogs come in muddy and wet and out comes the mop, it's never ending! Anj, how I envy you your snow. We just had a "pineapple express" move through and had to drain water from the pond when it was over. The express is very warm winds and lots of rain. What I hate most is the lack of sunlight. Thank Goodness they wired in lots of overhead lighting with the remake. My painting area has a large window so that helps, and I have overhead track lighting. We put up a bird feed right outside the window and I can watch the birds while I paint...I do love my birds. We are getting ready to go help very close friends with the building of their home. I have the 5th wheeler almost packed (I remove all the linen when winter begins) and we leave in the morning. It is only a little over 100 miles so won't take long. Several other's will be there as well, kind of like the old fashioned barn raising. Dave has been very ill and is still recouping. This couple took 5 months out of their lives to help us rebuilt our home this last year and that is something we can never repay them for, but maybe this will help. And what is truly amazing is that we are all still good friends after seeing each other 7 days a week for 5 months...has to be a record! And most of the time is was cold and miserable! I just finished painting a fall piece but DH sold it before I could take pictures. He play's poker every Friday nght at a lodge in town and mentioned that he had been cutting out lots of wood for me to paint, one comment lead to another and so Friday he took in my just finished piece and didn't come home with it and the gal gave his twice what I would have sold it for. So now I get to make another one for me and I really don't like to paint something more than once...takes all the challenge out of it! I am also taking paint project on our trip, I am not much help in the building department so I will do the cooking and paint on the side. And I have a lot of silly looking "frog" ornaments to add ribbons and the hanging cord. The gal I do the yearly orny's for wanted a frog this year - a frog? So she is getting a frog. I will post pictures when they are done. The "holidays" are always a trial here. My dtr's hubby and my son's wife do not like each other (Pea's of a pod!)so....when my DD want to have dinner at her home my son's wife won't go and you can figure out the rest. We have even tried a yealy event schedule...Ya Right! I enjoy having the family here, but also know that each family want their time...I'm beginning to hate the season's! And this year all three of us want to have Christmas in our "new" homes. Christmas may be a three day event. Better run for now, lots still to do, I am making chicken enchalladas (sp) to freeze for dinner later in the week and the chicken is cool so no excuse not finishing them up. Isn't it, Lisa! Don't you just want to kiss those yellow lips? I know I do! LOL (But I don't.) No, I don't over-handle them, but Purple Martins, unlike many other native birds, have imprinted on humans from before the time of Columbus, and are not put off by human "assistance" when done in a calm and safe manor. I lower the gourd rack nearly daily and check the nests...well "nest" this year. When the chicks are between 10-12 days old I remove them from the nest and put them in a basket lined with a towel. I loosely cover them. Then I quickly remove all the old nesting material, check it for parasites, and refill the gourd with clean wood shavings or pine needles. I add about 1/2 teaspoon of Sevin dust under the shavings, form a new nest cup toward the back of the gourd, and replace the chicks. I have the materials all ready and can change out a nest in less than three minutes if it's not heavily invested with mites or blow fly larvae. Thankfully I've never experienced the latter and have had only minor out breaks of mites that were cured with a nest change and tiny sprinkle of Sevin. I've had adult birds dash into the gourd before I was finished and wait for me to return their chicks. They swoop around and fuss at me, but they are not distressed at all. By carefully monitoring their PMs, landlords will have higher fledge rates (The number of hatchlings that live to fly off on their own at 28 days of age.) It's all a numbers game with them; "every martin counts." By offering larger, safer, dryer nest sites (such as gourds or large 7x7x12 wooden cavities) ...by offering pre-built nests to conserve the returning adults strength... ...by daily (or as often as possible) monitoring to head off any potential parasite or predator problems There will be stronger adult birds to produce more eggs, and more viable eggs, with hatch and grow quickly into more strong and healthy martins. The same holds true for our native blue birds, chickadees, nuthatches, and woodpeckers, and other cavity nesters that have been killed off at alarming rates, some (such as the blue bird to the point of near extinction) by the imported non-native European starling and English house sparrow. Some birds will abandon their nests and young if they are interfered with. It's best to study the species, talk to experts, consulst the Audabon society and your local bird clubs, and do your best. I'm happy to say that for the past four years I've had 100% fledge of all the PM eggs laid at my colony. Even if you just offer a large plant saucer of fresh water daily, you're helping our native birds. They're a gift from Heaven, enjoy them. Such great photos, all! GardenHo, I love the shape of that weeping redbud - so eye catching. The way the alliums float over the garden is just lovely - especially with the little bunny , it looks like a fairy tale. Ckerr, that little table and chair look like the perfect place to relax! I love the variegated dogwood - it brightens the area. Cercis, I guess it did rain! What a lush and verdant view. The peony and baptisia combo is really vibrant. Harold, love the bright colors of the lilies! They must be reflecting back that heat, which you can keep down there, thank you very much.

Saturday I was at the hospital visiting my sister and nephew. Yesterday, I stayed in all day. Icy roads and high winds had been predicted. We did get a little drizzle which turned icy, (but not to bad) so we didn't go to church. I played that bubble game, and the other one someone gave a link to for Stacy. I can't believe how fast yesterday went.

Saturday was wonderful with 40Âº temp and sunshine. I did some winter sowing, and just soaked up the sun when I went out. Yesterday was a big zero, but that's OK. DD stopped in for a while and we just yakked. Later I had a nap and then watched a Netflix movie.....a real tear-jerker!

Chad's horse is a beauty! Glad you had an enjoyable weekend.

We went with friends to play lazer tag on Saturday (I didn't play, but DH did) and then we went to a bar to listen to a friend's SIL sing. Had a great time.

Sunday we took DD and her BF to the same lazer tag place to let them use up the money on the card we'd bought and then we took them bowling. I bowled a 130 on my first game which is good for me and was good enough to beat everyone else. I bowl with a ball I got at a yard sale for a buck. Cheapness has it's rewards! lol

We had a pretty good weekend.
The sun shone, the wind didn't blow and the temperature was above zero.

Kids and I delivered puppies on Saturday and did a little shopping. My gosh but everything is expensive even at clearance prices. The high spot of the day was at Kohl's when I scratched off an additional fifteen percent. LOL

Sunday we cleaned the house and hubby caught up on some ranch work as he had to work overtime Saturday. Digger amazed me when she mucked out her bedroom and produced four bags of thriftstore donations. Jesse of course had to dig through all four bags to make sure there wasn't something there SHE wanted and of course, there was but it's going back to college with her.

Digger is looking into online and community college courses to earn her LPN degree this summer. If she does/can she will get a full ride scholarship for her RN (I THINK I have those degrees in the right order....) this fall. YAY!!!

I kept busy building a outside pen for puppies and washing their inside bedding. The smart little buggers can hear when the computer is booting up (the storeroom is just down the hall from my office) and will whine and bark. Cuties!

I'm working today as is Custer.
I'm waiting for a girl to come pickup a puppy then I'm off to work.

I started an exercise program last week.
Hopefully the hard part is behind me?

I go into work early three mornings a week and walk on the center's treadmill. The other days I ride my exercise bike. So far so good.....no change in body size or how clothes fit but I'm feeling really really proud of myself. LOL

OMG Lori! The sun shone, the wind didn't blow and the temperature was above zero. That's why Jammer tells me I would never make it through the winter in your neck of the woods!

I forgot to mention that Jammer plowed up a very large garden area. He can't wait to start planting!!! Looks like we will have our very own fresh, home grown produce for the first time in years.

Love the picture! This weekend I went to a baby shower on Saturday, and babysat the baby yesterday. She is one month old, and I get to watch her again today. The dogs keep barking at her...she doesn't seem to care, but it annoys me.

Because of the weather predictions for yesterday, I stayed inside and didn't even change out of my jammies. The roads were slippery, so I skipped church. We didn't get as much snow as expected but we had freezing rain in the night Satuday night.

The bad weather wasn't as bad as was expected here either. However, the back yard looks like a Lake. Water standing everywhere.

I went out in my rubber boots to see why the dogs were digging in the water. It looks like we have crawfish in the yard. Ooh boy!

Yesterday and today we have sunshine. All three dogs have been sunning at the door. Of course I went to get the camera and they scattered except for Pawlee who struck a poise.

It rained most of Saturday, then Sat. evening we went to a funeral home to a viewing for an ex neighbor, then to a movie and to a little Italian restaurant afterwards. We got about 3 inches of rain, which we're always grateful for. It rained at the right places to bring the lake level back up.

We watched some much needed rain and snow fall this weekend. It was wonderful. About 2" in all. YAY! McCloud and I love cloudy, rainy/snowy days.

We had cold and windy weather so I stayed inside and sewed a new wallet/purse for my mom. There's another pocket and zipper compartment on the back. She wore her last one out.

Summer, 2", that's wonderful. Yay for your yard and well! We got at least that much, it just poured, the dogs and cats did not want to go out at all.

Saturday we took my van into the shop, it had temperature issues. So we went in anticipating a new thermostat was needed... and it was. But there were other issues. Total damage, $1300! And that was with one problem covered under warranty. Sunday DH turned on the computer and the monitor "popped" and went out. Had to drag a big old clunker down from the attic for now. Then, because it's a three day weekend and these things come in threes, we woke up to no hot water this morning. (Whose idea of a joke is this?)

On the upside, it poured Sunday (we needed the rain) and the roof did not leak. ;o)

I guess I'm off to take a cold shower before we head out to pick up the van. And stop at Home Depot, I guess. We'll let them handle the water heater, it's gas and I don't want to mess with it. We knew it was about to expire, but sheesh, did it have to be all in one weekend!?

I'm laughing, I really am, because life can be almost like a sitcom sometimes.

did our usual shopping sat and sunday...oh and took the snow blower over for repairs...i hate it that sears doesn't have parts store anymore! just glad we didn't get the expected snow today..right now it's actually sunny but very cold...

It was incredibly busy! And this week will be the same. sigh.

Our city had their Basketball tournaments since Friday. My two dd's had six games since friday, I probably watched 5 to 6 other games before, between or after their games. Had to take tickets for 3 hours on Sunday. Made a desert for a Valentines dinner on Sunday eve, after tournament cleanup. Made some chicken soup because I didn't want the cooked chicken in the fridge to get old and useless.
We bought a horse on friday so my head has been planning for her living quarters during any free moments.
Back to work on Monday, it seemed like there wasn't a down time all weekend. I'm dreaming of reading a good book all day!
