Just beautiful! Love the detail & the rod!

Gorgeous, gorgeous! I love the entire room. I do think the lamps would look great painted black with some gold leaf accents. Or maybe do them gold/bronze with black glaze?

They are gorgeous. I love the color and the trim. Now I'd tie the red into the room with your lamp shades. Beautiful room!

The WT's are elegant. I love the all red and cream in the room. I've not seen that color combo before. It's striking. The chandelier is very different. I love the feel the room is starting to have. I can see adding some black into the room. What do you think of a black mirror also?

Teeda, we are on the same wave length. Last night the ID and I talked about painting/rubbing black on the lamps and allowing some of the gold to peak through. We also considered a gold/bronze combination.

RobbyRob, I was out today looking for red lamp shades but no luck. I'm going to keep at it though.

Reeree, the drapes are custom made and the fabric is dupioni silk. I posted fabric choices and trim a couple of months ago and we settled on this style. I must say I was hesitant at first but I'm so glad that I took the chance.

JerseyGirl, again great minds think alike. Last night I contemplated painting the mirror black or even replacing it with a black mirror. We have had the DR set since 2000 and it was actually my DH who picked it out! I was not at all sure about the color but this is the one area of the house that always gets the most compliments and stands out. So DH must have done something right.

Lifetime, the chandy is about 6 years old and we purchased it from a store in the light district in NY. This is the only room that I switched out the light fixtures in the new house. I'm glad that we did since it is such a good match with the furniture.

Oh I almost forgot, here is the rug we finally chose for this room. We are still waiting for it to be delivered.

Okay, my first reaction was red walls above chair rail with dummy panel wainscotting below - painted trim color. The red on the walls above the Chair rail being opposite of your drapes. I think it would really make your cream furniture, chandelier and mirror just POP!!

Great room! Normally I like red as lipstick, earrings, shirts, and cars. But for you, I think the red will work for the walls above the chair rail. In fact, I think it would look fantastic in your room!

Red walls, wow! Talk about coming out of your comfort zone. LOL. I think I'm going to do something I rarely do and ask the wonderful photoshoppers here if they could play around with my photo so that I could see how it would look with red walls and with/without wainscotting.

Any photoshoppers out there who could help please? Or Do you guys think I should start a new thread to ask for help?

I do like red walls (my own DR walls are red), but I don't see red for this room somehow. It almost seems too predictable, in a way. Have you considered wallpaper on the upper half? I almost wallpapered my DR before I painted, and remember seeing some really nice papers. Maybe something in creme with a little gold? Just a thought!

I have a question about the sheers and your drapes. Are the sheers on rings? I couldn't tell from the picture bc the sun was shining. I was wondering if you have the sheers behind your drapes on another rod or do your drapes stop and the sheers begin?

I am asking bc I think I need to get some sheers to soften the view out my windows. I only have panels and they don't close and I don't have blinds on the windows. I don't want shades bc I like to look out the window.

Teeda, thanks very much for the suggestion. In my previous home we had wallpaper on the top half of the walls that was cream and gold and the half below the chair rail was painted. I was hoping for a different look for the new house. See below. I want to try something different in the new home.

Hoyamom, the sheers are pleated and they are indeed on rings and everything is on one rod. I didn't want to use the usual blinds or shades as I really like the old fashioned look of sheers so that's what I did.

That rug is just gorgeous. It will look great in your room!

I love the paint as it is. But if I were going to do something to add interest, I'd think about fairly wide vertical stripes in a higher gloss tone of the same paint, or just using a clear coat that's a bit glossier to make the stripes. I think I'd do it below the chair rail.

Oceanna, I just spent several hours playing around with a demo for photoshop with no luck. Interesting that you like the existing paint color which is builders' beige. LOL What I originally invisioned for the room was a sagey or olive green. The responses here got me thinking about red.

Oh if there are photoshop angels out there, please help! LOL

I like looking out the windows. We had those honeycomb shades in our old house and my DH just about ruined them trying to peek out the sides rather than opening them. LOL

I think I would pick up the green for the walls. I think red would be too much red.

HoyaMom, here you go. These were taken by the ID the other night. They are not custom, thanks to Les recommendation I used JC Penney pleated sheers.They are off white or cream, I forget the exact name.

Jersey Girl, I have actually spent the last couple of hours trying to master the trial version of colorcreation's paint software. As you can see, I am absolutely terrible at it. LOL I did try a red color and did not like it at all. I also tried gold and that was a little bit better. Unfortunately I don't have access to all vendor colors so I'm just playing around with what I have. Clearly I need help and definitely will not be quitting my day job. LOL Hopefully everyone will give me an a for effort!!

Too funny, your drapes remind me of mine a good bit. In my previous DR, I had cream and gold damask wall paper with Powell Buff trim. It was really pretty.

Okay, no red. What about a rich rich gold or even a bronze? What do you think about the Mystic Gold I have in my DR?

Hey, I give you an E for effort on your photoshop!! I have not or will not (probably) every try. Maybe start a new thread so one of the PS's will see???? I don't know.....I am not real savvy with forum ettiquette.
