It'll be fine. Leaves a foot on each end, so it will look nice and uncluttered. Most multi-light bars over the mirror actually put out too much light, IMO. I have a three light over a 36, and use 20 watt bulbs in it. Anything more is too much. The trend today is side lighting, which really is more flattering-- hides the crows feet and wrinkles until you enter the real lit-from-above world, at which time you look like you again. But it would be very tight given the size of your mirror.

If you are looking for an energy efficient lighting that lasts over 10 years, consider LED tubes. They are available in T8 sizes that are compatible with existing fixtures but do not need a ballast. An LED tube will give you the same, or more than 4 fluorescents for less than 20% the energy. Several really nice and clean designs are available too. I would like to use a round mirror over a 48" wall hung vanity that abuts against a side wall which has a recessed medicine cabinet in it. I don't want to use sconces on either side of the mirror because there will be a wall mounted magnifying mirror on one side of the mirror. I am considering two types of mirrors: a round 36" or 40" LED mirror, or a plain beveled mirror. If I use the plain beveled mirror, what size and type of overhead light fixture would I look for, curved or linear? I have stainless steel trim and 8' ceilings.
