Are you guys ready for this, You better be sitting down let me tell you. This is the wash temps that Whirlpool sent me for their newest duets. I am sure it includes the Maxima washers as well since they are cousins.

I understand you are wanting to know the water temperatures for washer model WFW97HEXL. I have listed these below.

Hot: 69-79 degrees Fahrenheit

Warm 64-69 degrees Fahrenheit

Cold: 59-64 degrees Fahrenheit

Sanitary: Varies based on water heater setting.

The water heater will only increase the water temperature enough to sanitize items if the Sanitize option is chosen. The internal heater will heat the water about 20-25 degrees hotter than the regular hot water temperature. The water heater will work on the Heavy Duty, Whitest Whites, and the Bulky cycles. The washer does not add time to any of the cycles in order to maintain water temperatures.

This cannot possibly be for real!

80F = Hot? No way. Also, how about the Allergen cycle? It's NSF certified, which means it has to heat to 131F and maintain that temp for three minutes - IIRC. And how come Tammy does not mention the Steam feature. The manual says the heater helps to maintain temperatures if the option is selected - although it does not state the actual temps...

Oh, and about that steam option: how come there is no steam generator in these washers!?! I looked at exploded views on searspartsdirect.com and... no steam generator! Just like the Electrolux washers, which are also lacking a generator despite the steam option. Very bizarre.

POS...I've had mine for 2 weeks and the washer has been crap from day one. Today, I planned on doing laundry all day...the washer had other plans. I had to restart the same load 3 times, finally removed all but a few items, and it finally finished. Then I put back in all of the sopping wet ones I had taken out, and 4 more tries, it's still not done. Don't waste your money on these.

I'm glad that so many of you have gad success with your front loaders. And, I fully agree, it's important to follow the manufacture's care instructions; which I always do with all appliances. I have four children and as a result, I wash frequently. All white are washed in hot water with bleach. I'm am fastidious as well and my laundry never sits in the washer or dryer. Everything is washed, dried, folded and back where it belongs within a couple of hours of entering the process. This is my experience and I've had several friends with front loaders who also have the same issues. I can not speak for their process, but I know it's been an issue for them as well. Another friend just got rid of her front loader and went back to a top loader because of the issue.

I have 15-year-old front loader washer and dryer. We got the pedestals, and I have to say they are nice--I like the drawers underneath where my kids put their dirty socks and other unmentionables after sports practice. I also appreciate not bending over so far to get inside. Mine are one of the original frontloaders and I've had 2 repairs on them that I can remember. They perform very well but I'm careful to use HE laundry detergent and only half the amount, at most. I also don't vary the cycles much so I'm not challenging the electrical components (or so that's my theory). Because of their age, I know we're nearing the end of their lives but I'm willing to do a few more repairs unless they completely break down. I also blow them a kiss and thank them each time they complete a cycle. I swear this is the key. I keep my washer door cracked open a bit when not in use to avoid the smell. It makes sense if you think about it--to keep a FL leak-free during a cycle vs. a TL, the seal must be more tight when closed. A TL still has some air circulation when the lid is down.

Well I had the Little Giant comparable, Miele professional line, for 15 happy years. I seriously loved them and dreaded the day that they would die. The washer heated to 90 degrees celsius. And I used the wool cycle all the time for cashmere and delicate items. It died in a rather spectacular fashion, opened its door and dumped its contents, towels and water on the floor. The dryer had died a couple weeks before and we were waiting for parts for the dryer from Germany. As the washer was beyond repair (I am a heavy washer, 20 loads a week or thereabouts), we decided to get the stacked Speed Queen front loader. Then I read some bad reviews for the Speed Queen, ripped clothes, repair history for the front loader, etc. Switched to the new Miele washer, W1 WWH860WCS, and the new classic T1 dryer ( the new one for 1200). These 2 Miele were about the same price as the Speed Queen stacked unit. And to finally answer your question, I love them even more than the Miele professional. Detergent dosing took a little time to get down. But, they do a superior job washing and drying. Clothes feel so clean when I pull them out of the washer. They seem more geared to home use as the professional one that I had was for small businesses, small bed and breakfasts, etc. We did not get the Little Giant due to cost, as we are on the verge of retiring and my husband was not going to spend that kind of money on a washer and dryer. Now I do know that with how much that I use the washer, I will not get 15 years or even close out of this set. And that in the long run, with the amount of wash that I do, the Little Giant would have been more cost effective . But, to be perfectly honest, if money were no object, I would get 2 sets of the Miele W1 and T1. One for upstairs and as the dryer does not need a vent, that would be easier, and a set for the laundry room. I would also get the dryer with the window in the door. And if cost were no concern, I would get those 2 sets over the Little Giant.

This cannot possibly be true. Don't know where the error occurred but I have no doubt it is an error.

In particular, it would be quite impossible to raise temperatures "...20-25 degrees hotter than the regular hot water temperature." without adding time to the cycle. That's just nuts.

My cold tap runs at 75-80F

I will look forward to clarification.

I do not think I will get a rly to my second Email to Whirlpool, after what I told them about there email and and such. In the past week, I have contacted, Whirlpool, Maytag, Electrolux, and LG regarding there wash temps. Whirlpool and maytag have been the slowest to respond, the least informative in emails and on the phone and some of the dumbest humans walking the earth! Whirpool told me on the phone, she could not get that information and it took them 4 days for the email to come to me, I sent the email first, then called them right afterwards. I need to find a support group to get over the wash temps. If they are indded an error, how stupid of them to send them out in the first place...

asolo, keep in mind that the entire wash cycle doesn't have to be at the boosted temperature, only part of it (three minutes according to whirlpool_trainee). So, at a calculated heating rate of 1degF/minute, the water could be heated 20-25 degF during a moderately long wash cycle, without extending it.

The instructions probably specify a hot water supply at 120degF. If your supply is much cooler because of a long hot water lag, then maybe the sanitary cycle won't get hot enough to sanitize. Your problem, not theirs.

I wish I could be so sure that the info is wrong. When I had my disappointing LG experience, my wife's reaction was "they want all of us to do cold washes". Well, with those temperatures, everyone's going to do cold washes, no matter what setting they select. Seriously.

Found the info on Allergen Reduction Performance:

"The wash water temperature is evaluated to determine its ability to kill dust mites. Published industry research has shown that dust mites are unable to survive in a water temperature of 55ÃÂ° Celsius (131ÃÂ° Fahrenheit), so the protocol requires that the wash cycle must be sustained at this temperature for at least three minutes."
