Seagrass rug and Sisal rugs?
Comments (11)I just recently bought one seagrass rug and one jute rug off of Ebay from Natural Area Rugs (I think). The seagrass rug is in our primary living area which is really lived in as in to the extreme. It has been in place for about three months and is so easy to care for. It shows no stains and is not the most comfortable under foot but will do considering its wear capabilities. This replaced a sisal rug that was here before (from Lowes I believe) and after approximately a year and a half or two years it had to be pitched. It did not wear well at all and was extremely stained. That sisal rug replaced a jute rug (from Ballard) that was in the space for about three years but shed like crazy. I loved that jute rug for the look, but it was a pain the umhum to keep up. The shedding alone was like having two extra heavily shedding dogs in the house. It stained easily as well. I can't remember what the final issue was for us to throw it out, but it eventually did get the boot. The jute rug I just bought is for our den which is currently used primarily is our youngest son's play room. It is holding up remarkably well and isn't shedding like the other jute we had. It is also extremely comfortable under foot which is also the opposite of the original jute. I know you didn't ask about jute specifically, but my point in including it is that I think all differ in wear and feel not only by the type of grass but by the type of weave and the manufacturer as well....See Moresisal v.s. seagrass rugs
Comments (14)I have both-sisal in DR and foyer (from IKEA) and seagrass in the hallway. As others have said, there isn't a tremendous difference in the way they look, feel or wear. I've also been extremely pleased with these rugs. They are most definitely cost effective and as noted, I've got one in my dining room. It has had spills of both food and liquid and no damage. I've linked to a great online store below. I got my hallway rug as a remnant from them--they will cut and bind remnants to any size you like within the measurements of the piece. Free shipping too and you can also customize a rug if you need to at a decent price. You might want to check them out unless you already have a rug picked out. Comments (25)LOL! I never thought of greek key as 80s.. but it is definitely not an era I'd like to channel through my decor! Thanks for the recommends.. I've never heard of Natural Home Rugs but I saw a few in there I like for other spaces in my home. Boop.. oh there are plenty of rugs I like on Horchow-- but of course they arent the ones in my price range. You've shared some gorgeous rugs but a few are way too contemporary for my style and I am just not loving the sweater weaves. I am going to check out some broadloom options and a few local stores. Surely I'll find something. I don't think my requirements are all that unusual....See MorePet friendly rug recommendations (aside from seagrass/jute)
Comments (12)Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who directed me to soumak/polypropylene rugs. I don't know why I didn't even look at recycled polyester and the like. Years ago, these rugs use to look and feel very cheap and so I only purchased silk, wool, or cotton rugs to date. However, I just purchased 4 rugs off the esale rug site, of which I'll keep 1 or 2 (thanks to their seemingly generous return policy - has anyone returned a rug? Is it as easy as they say?) after trying them out with the furniture and seeing which rug colors work the best. And Carol, sorry, I forgot to write that out. GSD is a german shepherd dog. Mine's a 1 year old and absolutely hilarious. Her name is Shadow but she's also an escape artist so we sometimes call her El Chapo (after the escaped drug lord). Here she is:...See Moretinam61
