I`m more inclined to doing positive stuff - let Ã¨m crowd out the bad habits.

Maybe get to bed in decent time.

Maybe think of something later.

I can't say that I am. However, DH and I went to Pizza Hut yesterday for lunch and it was PACKED. I asked our waitress if it was normally this busy. She said "No. I think its because Lent starts tomorrow." So apparently, a TON of people are giving up pizza for awhile. :)

Saxophone, while in High School, begun shortly after our move to the Prairies. It was left in Korea, when we expected to return ... and, due to need for extended care for our son's eyes, we didn't. But I hadn't done much with it, for some time ... or maybe we'd have asked for it to be shipped back, with some of our other stuff (much of it stayed: not worthwhile to ship). It seems to me that some of you folks should get back to those old loves - whadda ya think? You could make beautiful music ... at a gathering of KT folks, for instance. Music brings joy to people's lives - and canned music isn't quite the same. How often do we get together for a good old-fashioned sing-song ... or is such a substantial part of our (non-youthful) social gatherings? Except in church. And, as for the youth and their music, most of it is mainly listening, not participating (as far as singing goes, though they usually do participate in terms of movement). Q: Snowball fights, hot cocoa by the fire, and sleigh rides... What's your favorite thing about winter? As Carol pretty much said, the last day of it! :-) Every year I like winter less and less. Cold, commuting, shoveling to get out on time, messy, dark and dreary, etc. Don't mean to be a grouch, but I am planning on moving to a more temperate climate when I retire.

It's their smile. I guess their eyes too. If it's a good smile the eyes are always involved with it. I can't help but smile at people when I cross paths with them. It bothers me when people just brush past you like you aren't even there. The other day in the store I passed an older gentleman in the isle and I smiled. After he passed me he said "Thanks for the smile, is it free?" I laughed and said "Yep, no charge" and we walked on. I giggled about that the rest of the day. It was great.

Yep, eating between meals and junk food, which in a way follows OJ's "positive stuff" as I will be eating in a more healthy way. Also I will try not to get stressed over things that I cannot change or do anything about.

Yes. Prayer, fasting (including fasting from TV), and acts of charity toward others. These traditional three Lenten practices always seem right on target! I try to do at least a couple small things per day during Lent.

As a Catholic, it would be hard for me to respond to this question without violating the "no politics/no religion" policy.

Suffice it to say that Lent is not necessarily about "giving up something" but more about true conversion and making sacrifices to help others.

Yes, "giving up something" is part of it, but if it only benefits yourself and only for a limited time, then the point is missed all together.

JMO that maybe I should have kept to myself....

Giving up something for Lent has never been part of my lifestyle. I always thought the meaning was to deny yourself something that had value to you, to prove your devotion.
