vintage drainboard sink repair

selfsown

My 1954 kitchen is pretty much original, or was...lol...long story. In the middle of a renovation/restoration. Here's a link: https://picasaweb.google.com/farfrumme/Renovations?authkey=Gv1sRgCK-k4oT6vcCa7gE#5702469771179857858

Trying to fit a gas range into that end run...I must be nuts but I digress.

Question: does anyone know anything about restoring that double drainboard? The sink is in good shape excpet for some minor scratches and chips. My contractor contacted his guy that touches up old tubs and said he could epoxy it but it wouldn't hold up for long. A sub contractor says he can get it epoxied but I have not quizzed him on durability yet.

I would love new porcelain but from what I understand there is only one place in the country that does it and they are having trouble with new materials adhering to the cast iron.

Any info/advise appreciated.
