On CL: vintage dbl drainboard sink, Youngstown steel
Comments (0)This is not my ad -- I noticed it and thought someone here might be interested. It's in NC (not my town so I can't have a look without a drive). I was tempted for about 10 min but I don't think I am going to go for it. For one thing I don't think my new (in use) faucet would fit and I am not enough of a vintage purist to buy a different new faucet or to use the one that comes with it... but the double drainboard sink is cool all the same. Anyway, here it is in case anyone wants to look. Here is a link that might be useful: Youngstown sink and cab on CL...See Moresink with built-in drainboards
Comments (7)Are you looking for single or double bowl? If you google for "drainboard sink" you will find many models. What's your material of choice? Whitehaus makes one called the Quatro that has a built-in drainboard. Comes in white, black, cream and blue fireclay: There's the Clarion, a vintage castiron farmhouse type on legs. Blanco makes nice stainless ones: American Standard makes once called the Cuilinaire: And an acrylic version from CorStone: How about a CorStone in purple: And an American Standard in Corian: And you can always go vintage! There are some truly gorgeous vintage double drainboard sinks. Here is a link that might be useful: fabulous vintage sinks!...See MoreSupport for vintage double drainboard sink?
Comments (5)I have a second home in a beach area that we rent out. It came with the kitchen remodeled, but with a drainboard sink. As far as I know, it just sits on top of the cabinets like a countertop would. The dishwasher is placed next to it. I have seen pictures of these sinks with a dishwasher under the drainboard, so I know it's doable. Maybe plywood or cement board under the sink?...See MoreVintage sink faucet repair or replacement: Feasible or foolish?
Comments (5)I think the key to your project is the condition of the chrome on the trim. A good brass old-style fixture may just need some cleaning and a dollar's worth of washers. Some of the older trim is pot metal and chrome. If that is pitting or not attaching well, I'd move on as there wouldn't be much value in it....See Moreselfsown
