I would first check to see if you can get service easily where you live from LG and Samsung. That is most important.

I don't have either one but I have read that the Samsung is great if you are worried about vibrations. Has a system that stops all the banging and shaking. I also read that LG washers are very stable also. The trick is to get them (any brand) leveled correctly to start with. Go to epinions.com and read about the ones you are interested in. Also if it were me I wouldn't bother with Sears but then that is just my opinion.

As far as service is concerned, they both have similar warranties. If I purchase the Samsung from Lowes, they will replace the unit with a new unit if the same problem recurs thrice. Don't know if that's standard or not,... or just a Lowes thing. And you're absolutely right,... I've learned awhile ago that level is more important than most think.

Sears kinda scares me too, but they have the best price as far as the LG goes. AND,... we've been eyeballing a scratch and dent dryer at $400 ($899 vs $1299)off the sale price. No such luck with the Washer,... we'll be buying that in the box if we decide to go with LG!

My main concern is the quality. I'm pretty comfortable with an LG selection. I see alot of them and have read some decent reviews on them,... a more familiar brand name I guess! I had no idea Samsung made anything other than HDTVs, much less Washers & Dryers until our visit to Loews. LOL! So I guess my motivation in coming here,... to see what those who are more familiar think!

Have had the Samsung set since April in a mobile home and it does great...NO vibration...Love Love Love it..

I haven't found posts about the Samsung other than linkay's. I don't think lots of people have purchased it. I thought it looked interesting. Samsung did have a recall this year for a fire hazard I believe with their electronic panel.

I have the LG Steam Tromm and am very happy with it. No problems so far and great results. I have no vibration problems. I purchased mine from HomeDepot. They had the best price and their 4 extra years of warranty is only $89. Sears charges way to much for warranty. That 3x thing sounds like the GE extended warranty. You get that with any GE warranty no matter where you purchase it from. Home Depot has the same.

Well,... we purchased today! After a few trips between Sears, Lowes & HD, we landed on the Onyx Blue DV337AEL Electric Dryer and it's matching washer by Samsung. Very nearly got the comparable LG set, but the LG set weighed in at nearly $400 more for their top model with the same feature set. The sales reps pretty much confirmed the Samsung was equal to the LG, something I had originally thought was not true.

Loaded them up on the bed of the Ram Hemi pickup and hauled them home. Unhooking the old GE set (which came with our new home some 7 years ago) and installing the new Samsungs was a snap and took all of 30 minutes. Surprisingly fast and easy. We were also surprised at how quiet these things are,... amazing. We can actually run these things thru the night and still get some sleep. Oh and another thing that pleasantly surprised us was how dry the load was after the washer finished doing it's thing. I'm thinking that'll take a lot off of the dryer and may even save on the energy bill as well. Maybe,... maybe not.

We did 2 loads of laundry just to get familiar and dust off some of the excitement. Embarrasing,... two grown people standing in front of a washer and dryer with a frozen stare as they tumble our clothes around and around.

The 'dent-n-scratch' LG dryer at Sears was gone, so that made it easier to take a second look at the Samsung. However Lowes threw in a free Onyx Blue pedestal because the last had a scratch on it. Cool! Would have used the cord from the old dryer, but it was advised to get a new one for safety reasons. This weekend I plan of swapping the direction of the door to the dryer for easier access. According to the owner's manual, that too is should be a snap!

I'd like to thank everyone for your advice. I only hope we'll have no reason to regret purchasing the Samsung over the LG. Our luck,... stuff like that generally happens on the 31.

Good luck w/your new set. A word of advise...dont get caught up like so many on this forum do about a washer being superior or inferior to the other. If it performs to your expectations or exceeds them then you have a superior washer regardless to what anyone else has or says is better.
If you stay on this forum enough you will find that there are some real "brand zealots" here.
I personally believe that once you get into a certain price range all these fl's are very comparable, it just boils down to what each individual person likes with regard to features and looks. Take care and have fun!

I agree with luvmylg, both the Samsung and the LG (and many other brands in that price range) should be good quality appliances. I don't think you'll regret your decision. Even in the unlikely case that you will have a problem, it could have happened with any other brand as well. A small percentage of any given brand will have mechanical or electronic problems.
I am happy that more and more people switch to FLs and realize how great they are...no matter what brand they choose. I got spoiled growing up with FLs, so I just can't be happy with a TL. I am glad that there is a wide range of FLs available here in the US at last.
