I use Bennington Pottery. It's the same thing...put in a cold oven.

In the summer, I don't worry about it if the oven is set to 375 degrees, or below.

In the winter, I'm more careful because my dishes are stored in a cabinet on an outside wall & get quite cold. So, if I'm making a loaf of banana bread I'll stick the pan in the oven as the oven's preheating & I'm making the batter. Then, remove the pan from the oven, fill, & bake as usual. Actually, I think I end up with a better product. The warmed baking dish gives the leaveners a boost & the finished loaf is much nicer looking with a light texture.

For meat dishes or casseroles, I don't worry about it & just start off by putting the pan in a cold oven.

If I want to roast, then I'll use stainless steel.

Thanks, Tricia. I'm making an apple crisp. You seem to think that it will be o.k. to pre-heat to 350 and then bake the crisp.

It would be OK with Bennington and, I suspect, it will be for your Polish pottery as well but no promises...every product is slightly different.

Don't rewarm the crisp though directly from the frig to a preheated oven. Let it sit on the counter for 15 minutes or so then put in a cold oven & rewarm.

If your Polish pottery is as expensive as most of it is I would not take the chance. Most recipes call for a preheated oven(bakery items excluded)in order to speed up the cooking process.
