Hi odyssey3, This indeed has many lights !!! but that doesn't mean it can't work in fact it may be quite exciting. On a dimmer and on at 1/3 the light cast would be very warm and well distributed. I think the reason this could work for you but not for many is because you have a high ceiling. 30x29 is large but it's all relative. If this is a good distance from the closest wall I think it would be very dramatic ! Lighting in general is one of the more interesting ways to personalize your home. Go for what you like !! jd

I read an interesting formula on a Houzz blog last night- Kitchen Islands: Pendants Lights Done Right. Take the # of inches of your island or bar (87) and subtract the diameter of your pendant (13). Then divide that number by 16. 87-13 = 74 divided by 16 = 4.625. So you could actually have 4 13" pendants on an 87" bar. However, your contractor already spaced for 2 pendants 32" apart. I think 2 would be fine almost 3 feet apart. Take a look at the Houzz blog, a good one.

Julie: Step back and look at the big picture please. When you're in business, you take some unfair beatings on some jobs; it's inevitable. They are sometimes hard to take, but say you did a million dollars in sales and ate $10,000.00 worth of work. Swallowing 4 $2,500.00 pills isn't easy, but combined they're only 1% of your sales. If you can keep your losses to 1%, you're into black ink. Same thing here. Look over your whole project. How much turned out well versus how much not so well? What is your percentage please?

LindaLinda2 I only posted that info because many people (myself included) have had no idea of the health issues with gas stoves. I realize you were semi joking about not being dead because I’m assuming you’ve used a gas stove for a long time. The problem is, the stoves maybe won’t kill you, but are they worth it if they “just” make you a little more unhealthy as each year goes by? There are many products that have caused health problems decades after using that nobody knew about at the time. Then it’s all “oh geez, I wish I’d know about the health risks back then. I would have stopped using (whatever).” Asbestos, cigarettes, sunbathing, talc, the list is long.
