LOL LindaKathy. I thought about not using pronouns at all and just typing the name at each reference, but too much of it is confusing and needs to be clarified. For example, there has to be a reason the writer said "birthed a son" and "fathered a daughter." I don't know what she was thinking and neglected to get into the story.

Did this person die in a local hospital? If so, you could call the hospital and see if you can find out anything. I know they won't give out much info to nonfamily, but you could truthfully say you don't need or want details on the cause of death, etc., you just need to know whether to use "he" or "she" on the funeral programs. I'm sure they'd give you at least that info.

Doesn't say where, but good suggestion though. Just that there's more info I need, too. Really need to understand what on earth this lady is trying to say because it's all over the place. I truly cannot tell who she's talking or when she is or is not talking about the deceased.

It was a matter of subject focus, or rather the lack thereof. She (the writer) began talking about everyone she mentioned, instead of continuing the subject's life story. Example: (name changes of course) "Taylor Doe was born to John and Jane Doe. She birthed a son, Jack, and lived in the Miama, Florida area until relocating to Michigan." She was talking about his mother, Jane Doe, birthed a son named Jack. Weird way to introduce the decedent's sibling, but the biggest problem is I had no idea she suddenly began talking about his mother. She even went on to tell what his mother did for a living. She did that a few times. Later on after mentioning the marriage, she said they had no children, but he fathered a daughter. Then, she began talking about the wife. I was totally confused.

I woke her at around 7. After establishing it was about a man, I just deleted all she wrote about other people in favor of focusing on him. When listing the survivors, she stipulated his wife, then wife's name, then five other names without stipulating the relationships of these five other people. Knowing they can't all be his wife LOL, I asked who they are to him. She said they are his children. Another alarm since she already established he only fathered one daughter. I guess they are her children, his stepchildren. I also had to clarify some spellings since deciphering her handwriting was rather difficult.
