Seagull Ambiance Low Voltage Bulb Question

For those of you that have used the above for undercabinets, what bulbs did you use? I am pretty sure i'm looking for a white light, not yellowish, what would be the best choice? Would a white undercabinet light look ok with halogen or incandescent recessed bulbs? Also, where did you locate your transformer?

I have the clear bulbs and the light is just right. The light is not yellow at all. The light you see will be a reflection (so to speak) of the other colors in the kitchen - such as the backsplash, the counter and the cabinets. These lights will look fine with any other lights you choose.

I really like the lighting system, it's not hot like my old halogen pucks (which made great plate warmers). The tracks provide very good light along all my counters. My 4 sets of lights meet in two junction boxes in the basement ceiling and then connect to the transformer, also in the basement ceiling. The switch for the lights is next to my sink.

We used the xenon, frosted bulbs and find the light pleasing. I located the transformer under the sink, but you can be very flexible with it's location based on your installation.

Also, would suggest using a dimmer.

You might be able to go lower if you look around more. The environmental lights house brand light bars are available from other places. If you haven't included the power supply and connectors into the pricing, please do. It should be fine.

Nora is perfectly fine. I've been using them for over 10 years with no problems. As for #2, I'd say that those trims normally do look pretty much the same. But that might vary slightly by manufacturer.

Be aware if you have granite and it has a shine to it. The colour of the fixtures will show up on reflextion. So if you get the white then it will show up white. We got the halogen since it came in black and we had them stain under the cabs the dark color of the cabs to hopefully minimixze the relection. I will tell you next week how it turned out......

Hi, I have Seagull Ambience, and I like the color of the light, the intensity (I have a 10w bulb about every 8" average) and in 5 years I have only had one bulb go out. In comparison, I've had to replace all of the 20w halogens (4 of them) in the thermador vent hood in that same time period. (and replace a section of in-cabinet rope light 4 times!) The U/C's have more hours of use than the hood. The warming effect is noted, but it's not perceptible at countertop level, just the cabinet floor. The "heat" hasn't rendered any discoloration to the cabinet bottoms, so it's clearly not in the temp range to bother the wood or the finish. Casey
