If Nadya Suleman's mother, Angela, was SO concerned with her daughter's inability to care for her children, why didn't SHE call Child Protective Services?
The article says Angela is a retired teacher ... she knows child neglect when she sees it and knows what to do about it.
The time to have put a stop to her daughter's [Nadya] irresponsible behavior was BEFORE she had her 6 children.
I think this whole thing is a scam and likely includes Nadya's mother and father.
After all, it is Angela who managed to managed to get almost $1 million dollars in debt and filed for bancruptcy in March, 2008. But now it is Angela who is blaming Nadya for her financial problems.
So, it seems that California taxpayers will be footing 100% of the cost of caring for Nadya and her 14 kids for many years to come. She will get section 8 housing, be a burden to the WIC program for years, all 14 kids will get free breakfasts and lunches in school, all their health care for years, food stamps, etc, etc. Sadly, it is probable that 1 or more of the octuplets will need additional and very expensive care for congenital and developmental problems for the rest of their lives.
Those kids need to be taken away. The mother is living on disability checks and school loans, and being prescribed antidepressants to cope with her life. Her goal in life is to become a counselor to solve other people's problems for them. LOL. Her parents have been coddling her all along with this and now want out of the mess. The father of these kids is not paying for anything and is absent in the kids life. Why is David Soleman not paying child support?
Something is very strange about this story. Nadya Suleman married Marcos Guittierez in 1996 but divorced last year and court records indicate no children were produced. How is there no record of her having any children???
Why did her mother buy her a house, and then declare bankruptcy and move in with her?
I agree that the kids, if not taken away immediately, need to be closely monitored. I can't see how she will possibly manage. Under certain circumstances, CPS will provide in-home support, at least here they do, and Nadya Suleman could at least use that.
I think the court records you are referring to are showing that no children were produced of the union between Nadya and Marcos Guitierez. They must have been separated for a long time, while Nadya was doing her thing with the fertility treatments.
As for the house, it's my understanding that her mother bought her a house, but with the understanding that Nadya would make payments. Nadya did not contribute to the shelter costs, she squandered her money on toys, and did not disclose to her mother that she received a WIC settlement.
I have no idea who the doctor was who did the implantation, but he should be embarrassed and ashamed of himself.
This women is MENTALLY ILL!! Delusional!!! If the state doesn't step in and do something, we will all end up taking care of many more of these cases!!!
So, so sad for all of those kids...they didn't ask for any of this. Just sad.
This woman's elevator doesn't go to the top floor. This post ties in with a previous post about people who know how to mild the system. It should be found out who the quack was who implanted all those embryos, and make him/her pay for partial upkeep of the eight. I would also wish this woman could be sterilized so her delusional ideas of wanting children, be stopped. Yes I know this is radical, but it is a radical situation. Dottie
Nadya also receives 165,000 (I think) over the course of 5 years from a disability settlement she received while working at a mental institution. Her mother said she has never given her a penny towards the care of these kids.
I think she is getting just what she wanted in the first place....publicity. She sees herself as another TV show like the Duggars I suppose.
Those poor children should be taken away from her. Either way, we the tax payers are going to be supporting these children. It makes me sick to my stomach just looking at this woman.
I think all of the children should be taken away and raised by someone who will think of their well being. The mom isn't responsible.
I don't think that the pictures of the messy house are a reason to take the kids away. My house gets like that from time to time and so does most of my friends. It's a continuous battle of cleaning, throwing out, and re-organizing. The kids are the one making the mess. Any clean spot is considered more room to play. I'd be more worried if the house looked really clean.
She will end up with millions of dollars with book deals, shows and interviews. She said, she was trying to think the best way to go. I think the people that give her money for interviews or anything else has a big a mental problem as she has.
"I think the court records you are referring to are showing that no children were produced of the union between Nadya and Marcos Guitierez. They must have been separated for a long time, while Nadya was doing her thing with the fertility treatments."
Her children would still be listed on record at the hearing. The way the law is written any children born in a marriage are the responsibility of the husband. That means natural born, in vitro with donor, and also includes any adopted children. According to the news reports there are no children listed. At a divorce all children of both parents from the current and the previous marriages are listed and parental rights are clearly established for each child. It has happened that during a divorce the step children go to the step parent and not to the bio parent. Again, why no mention of her having any children at the divorce hearing?
Something is not adding up. How is it that the grandfather of these kids actually thinks he is 'going back to Iraq' at his age? Is this a military family?
I've decided not to watch any interviews or programs concerning this woman and her children I did hear on the news that she left the hospital and instead of going home, she went straight to an interview. I think she wants the publicity and I just feel so sorry for the children. I truly think she is mentally unstable.
I think she is trying to emulate Angelina Jolie. Maybe she has some obsession with her. Have you seen her lips? I truly think this is a sad situation and feel really sorry for all of the kids.
Why is no one willing to step in and help all these children?
When I was young, this woman would have been put away in an institituion (along with that wacky medical staff) for her actions. Nowadays, the victims have less rights than these @sses!
I'm disappointed that companies are not helping with diapers, formula, etc. It's easy to lambast the woman's absurd behavior, but what's done is done. The children need help now.
I agree with Maryann, I'm not going to watch anything more on the weirdo. I hope they take them away from her too, and give them to someone who'll take care of them. Leslie
Yes, but who is going to step up and take 14 children and keep them as a family unit???? Even spliting the Octs with the previous 6 in two families..It's not likely to happen.
You'll end up with 2 here, 2 there, 1 here...maybe 3 there...Having a loopy mom isn't the worst thing in the world. I don't agree with her choices at all. But I'd rather see a few people/agencies step in help her than spread them all across the state of CA.
She's enjoying all the publicity and dreaming of the big bucks coming her way. Probably, like my DH said, 'she's doing it for the money' plus she's sick in the head. If her Dad is going back to Iraq, is he from there? If he is, he needs to take her and her 14 kids with him.
I was so disturbed by this woman's interview this morning I had to turn it off. I didn't understand WHY someone unemployed with 6 other mouths to feed would PAY for IVF? She said she wasn't going to get government assistance, but she was quick to add that she would take donations of swings, etc. Too bad she doesn't make some donations herself.
>> I'm disappointed that companies are not helping with diapers, formula, etc.
I absolutely don't mean any offense nor am I trying to start something, but I want to say that when I want something, one of my considerations is whether or not I can afford it. I never, ever say that I will go ahead and get it because someone else will pay for it. As a very simple example, if I want TIVO, I think "Can I afford the hardware? Can I afford the monthly fee?". I don't conclude "Well, I'll buy the box, and someone else will step up and pay the monthly fee for me because I did something I couldn't afford".
I don't at all think that the diaper companies or baby food companies or whatever have any need to step up. I'm not in favor of letting the kids suffer, but she needs to figure it out and there are already programs in place for that. (Don't even get me started on that - - - her decision, her responsibility).
Suzieque, I personally think the woman is nuts and/or a manipulator. She made a selfish decision which impacts all of her 14 children, her parents, friends, and everyone else she expects to pitch in to help her. But the fact is, those kids are here now, and they're needs have to come first. I really doubt it's in any way possible for her to manage and care for them properly, but she has to have a chance.
Don't get me wrong-I think this was a stupid, selfish, very short sighted decision she made, and I think she planned this all along, regardless of what she says. I also think laws need to be changed, or put in place so that this does not ever happen again.
Let me add that my aunt works for a consumer products company.
While she states they are very generous, times are tough for everyone! They cannot start delivering supplies to every family that decides to have more children than they can afford. This is a large, long-term commitment, and I don't blame any company for not coming forward. It sets a bad example.
I would imagine that a lot of companies would not want their company name connected in any way with the most hated woman in America...Larry King's words, not mine.
I think it could be very bad publicity, and consumers might start boycotting their products. Their donations in the past, have been a form of good free publicity.
Those little ones will be fed, clothed and cared for, one way or another. After all those book deals and interviews come through she should have money enough to buy what they need and want...after the hospital bill is paid for of course.
I think she is delusional, and totally irresponsible, and will never be capable of giving all 14 little ones the love and care they need.
She said she saved every penny she could and worked double shifts - no wonder her mother is sick of taking care of her grandchildren - free babysitting. If you can't afford the first 6 children - will adding more help the situation? Not by my calculations. May I add that there are plenty of people in other countries who have children and barely have enough to eat. There is NO ONE to bail them out, help them out or anything. They have what they have and don't have what they don't have. She consciously made this decision; there was no gun to her head. I'm not for children suffering either, but my parents grew up in the Depression. They grew their food and wore what they could afford or sew. I hope she gets busy planting a garden and might consider buying a cow. I did think it was curious that they showed her hands during the interview and she had enough money to get her nails done (and looked like collagen injections in her lips).
On a more practical note, how on earth are they going to keep those 8 babies in addition to the 6 kids in one house? Sounds like it's already jam-packed with beds and people. Probably isn't any more room for cribs at all.
I ask: How many people would it take around the clock to care for that many kids? 5? Will there be volunteers to step up 24/7 for the years ahead?
This is a real problem.
The other US-born octuplets were not subject to the harsh criticism that Suleman has received. But there was a husband and a wife there, and I don't believe they already had 6 kids.
There is more and more of this story coming out each day. I just heard on CNN that she had been on public assistance and receiving food stamps. On another news show, it was said that the Child Protective Services were already on the case. There was also a report that the fertility doctors involved in this were being investigated.
In the meantime the grandmother just keeps exposing more info, and telling of her disgust with her daughter for what she has done. Poor Grandma.
Poor Grandma was not forced to watch her other grandchildren, free of charge. Sometimes tough love needs to happen. Grandma shouldn't have bought her a house, either, even though her daughter said she'd make the payments.
I haven't read or watched much of the news. I'm mostly going on what I've read here and what people tell me.
If I were grandma, I'd be packing up and going to Iraq with my husband and letting the delusional freak of a daughter fend for herself. After all she had a dysfunctional upbringing. I noticed her fancy new manicure and collegen fat lips. She looks like a freak. Who has the time to get her nails done when she has a gazillion kids?? She's a Angelina Jolie wannabe. But Jolie is gorgeous and this woman is a freak. She seriously needs to be commiteed along with her doctor and the sperm donor.I would never buy products from a company that supports this person.
