I guess that would only be for eggs you are going to eat yourself. I hope they don't do this in restaurant kitchens!

I love it too, it reminds me of being in grade school when we tried to blow the "raw" egg out of the shells so we could paint the shells. A hole at each end, be sure to poke the yolk but I never had enough "wind" to blow that egg out of the shell.

Somehow, I don't think I could do that to hard boiled eggs either....

I tried it. It didn't work. Could be my technique. My daughter boiled them and I don't think she added vinegar. Either way, it is a way too intimate technique to use if the egg is for anyone other than yourself.

I wish I'd had an eggstractor when I was working as a lunch lady. The crowd I was cooking for loved hard-boiled eggs in their sandwiches.

Bunnyman, I do have an egg peeler but it uses water power (I'm trying to dance around this description) to expel the egg. The smaller end goes on the faucet the other end sucks to the egg that has been cracked on both ends.

Many years ago when I was in college the bartender at a local watering hole where I hung out used to do this,but not quite this successfully.

Well, Mimsic and Jo, you're right. No one would ever eat such an egg, unless it was blown by someone dear and very, very close to you.

I'd eat it if it was one of Jim's jobs (has anyone checked on my dear Jessica? I think she may be hyperventilating). I figure since Jim and I exchange germs quite often, I'd have no qualms eating the violated egg.

AB, Gina and Jo, I tried the egg test last night, and it didn't work for me. But I guess, I'd have to contribute that to my poor lung capacity. Which is just as well. Nothing says ew like a nice boiled egg ... with spit all over it.

You know, I've never even seen an eggstractor or egg peeler. Amazing the things I learn here.

Well, since I was the one going to eat the egg, I gave it a try and was unsucessful. That didn't surprise be, though. I'm awful at blowing up balloons, blowing bubbles or any kind of whistling. (Stop it, Jessy! I sense your fingers twitching from here.)

Now, that water powered gizmo? If it works, I'd have loved one of those back when I had to make all that potato and egg salad!

I probably shouldn't admit this but... it worked for me. I blew in the small end, hard, and that slick, peeled egg flew into my sink like it was greased. My eggs were not new fresh eggs, they were almost to expiration date and I added a fair amount of salt but no vinegar.

I then rinsed it, sprinkled it with seasoned salt and ate it for lunch.
