How about just moving the ottoman? Maybe centered in front of the sofa. You can always move it to the chair when someone is using it and wants to put their feet up.

Do you need the chair for TV watching? If you don't, try putting the chair and ottoman back where they were in the before picture, and then put the sofa where the TV used to live.

First of all, your kids are adorable!

But secondly, I think that your wall art placement looks a bit random. You really need to hang your art so that it relates to the furniture better. It looks just kind of haphazard as it currently is. A good rule of thumb is that the center of a picture should be at eye level.

Ahh, I remember those days when my LR was furnished with a pink Strawberry shortcake toybox....At least this is your playroom.

I would buy your gorgeous little angels a couple of beanbags, and get rid of the round ottomans. You might also hang all of your artwork over the sofa. It looks as if the subject matter (pottery) is all the same, and they might have more impact if hung together.

And, I'll be honest. I don't like the tv over the fireplace. The cords worry me (though that may be temporary), it's obvious from the picture it strains your little girl's neck, and you have to find someplace for the DVD player and game player now, like you said. The tv stand just worked better.

I was just going to say something along the lines of what deeinohio said. I preferred the tv not on the wall. The room isn't wide enough to have the seating far enough away for it to make sense. Could the tv and stand go on the wall where the dried flower arrangements are now?

Dee & Terriks--thx for the feedback on the art. I'm horrible at hanging pics. I relied on a friend that assured me she was good at decorating, about 8 years ago. I want to do away with the pottery theme. I want to go w/ the red poppy, like the pic sitting on the chair. Although, as I look at it might be too much red w/ the furniture. With the vaulted ceiling on that side I think she was trying to do something with it since it is so high.

One question, if the children are the ones watching the TV more often might it not be better to keep the TV or low or are they at the stage still where they are too touchy? I know our grandson left his precious little fingerprints all over the bottom half of ours. Took me forever to clean them off when I stopped being his babysitter. You couldn't see them when watching TV and when it was off it was like art to me.
Anyway, in thinking of the babies I'd personally bring back the TV console and place the TV on the wall under the pretty shelves only not centered. More under the one on the right since that would make it easier to watch TV from the sofa.

I would move the tv back to the console, and place it on the wall that has the floral arrangements on it currently. Then get some RTA shelving and perhaps baskets to put on the shelves, and place them on the same wall, to give the feel of a furniture grouping and still provide a place for the toys. That wall is pretty useless for seating given that the doorway outside is right there. I don't think the tv above the fireplace works for the shape and size of your room.

Once you do that, you can put your couch back on the wall opposite the fireplace. Put the chair and ottoman in the corner to the right of the fireplace. That should allow tv viewing from all the seating, but not make the entryway feel too crowded. Add a table and a lamp by the chair. Use the floor lamp with the couch, or if there is enough room, add a narrow sofa table behind it with a pair of lamps

The small round ottomans could perhaps get tucked under the windows when not in use, or that would be another space for low bookcases or cabinets.

The alternative idea would be to put the tv on the wall opposite the fireplace. Put the couch near the wall where the floral arrangements are, but pull it forward so that the couch sits at a right angle to the fireplace, in front of the window on the left of the fireplace. Then use the space behind the couch for storing all the toys, lined up against the wall, OR put a bookcase or cabinet behind the couch to act like a sofa table, put a lamp or two there, and use the shelf space for toy storage, either in baskets or loose. The chair and ottoman would go into the corner to the right of the fireplace, with a lamp and table there. The little ottomans could be next to that on the wall, or get a bit larger table and put the ottomans under it.

If you have an IKEA nearby, take a look at the Expedit series. These are great storage for smaller kids stuff, can be decorative, have options for baskets and drawers, and are affordable. Two of the two shelf ($69) units, stacked turned on their sides and screwed together for security, could function as the console behind the couch suggested in the second option above.

Then, once everything is in place, rehang all the art, at eye level, in groupings for impact. Seems as though everything you have in the room is hung very high on the walls, and scattered.
