Are the books about each individual girl? Do the stories follow the show or are they just based on the character?

I just finished One Day by David Nichols. Good premise for the story, but it was okay. Before that was The Heretic's Daughter. Based on the Salem witch trials, but in a neighboring town of Andover. Good story and amazing to think what went on back then.

Got lucky at Borders the other day and found 3 books that were in the $1 pile. I'll have to come back and give you the titles. One is about a reporter who interviewed hundreds of nuns to get their view on life, love, death, faith etc. Seems really interesting to me since my Aunt is a nun. I believe it's called Unveiled? Bet some of the answers will surprise! I just love to find out about people who's lives are readically different then mine.

Tina Savas is a local author and I heard her speak re the book at a luncheon lately.

I just finished "Under the Mercy Trees" by Heather Newton. I liked it a lot. It is one of those books that you think about after reading. My husband, who likes to read but hates to buy books, read it too. He also liked it. It was fun to discuss it later.

I have "The Girl Who Fell from the Sky" by Heidi Durrow ready to read next.

I love to get suggestions here so people keep them coming.

Teresa, I don't know, at first I thought it was Alison herself and she wasn't dead. Now I'm not so sure. The books are different and someone has died that didn't die in the tv show. The characters have the same basic personalities but they look totally different in the books. Emily is not Asian, but blonde/red headed with short hair and freckles, Hanna has brown hair not blonde, Aria is tall, and Spencer has blonde hair not dark brown. It's kinda wierd reading the books now because I picture the tv characters in my head still.

I got my DD the set of the first 4 Pretty Little Liars books for Christmas. She's read all 4 already... and she is usually a very slow reader.

I'm currently reading James Van Praugh's Unfinished Business, I have 1 chapter left and then will start on his book Ghosts Among Us. I finally finished The Memory Keeper's Daughter. It was a good read, but I rarely read fiction.

Just finished reading The Personal History of Rachel Dupree. It's a quick read. I liked it.

Cinch....it's a diet book. Kind of "self help"....lol

I picked up one of Jayne Ann Krentz's Arcane Society books on a discount stack a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm hooked--problem is, she's written them in all 3 of her genres (past, present and future), so I'm having to search for them under all three of her names (JAK, Amanda Quick and Jayne Castle). Since I only buy books that are seriously discounted or from used bookstores, it's become quite a quest--I've only found about half of them so far. DH was just saying earlier that he'd take me to a used book store I don't get to very often this week one day.

Kath-I don't think I'd like the girls looking different from the show? They are all so pretty in their own different way (although is that what high school girls look like these days??). I saw Toby the other day on some kids show. He was supposed to be this gorgeous male model instead of the creepy loner-so funny!

Country Sunshine, Radical is the next book I'm going to read. Glad to hear a recommendation! I had a feeling it would be good.

CAPTIVE OF MY DESIRES by Johanna Lindsey. My daughter got me started on her books about 7 years ago.

I just finished the 'From Lark Rise to Candleford' trilogy by Flora Thompson. It's a semi-autobiographical reminiscence of her life in rural England in the late 19th century and they are altogether charming. I've been watching the BBC series based on her novels and thoroughly enjoying it.

I am enjoying several James Patterson books with the detective Dr. Alex Cross as the main character. Murder mysteries.

I'm re-reading an oldie, Look Homeward, Angel by Thomas Wolfe.

I don't read books anymore, I listen to audio books. I do this during my 40-45 minute, 13 mile commute to and from work. I am currently "reading" Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. Before this one, it was Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks.

I'm trying to get in to Return to Sullivans Island
I may not get in to it. I finished Firefly Lane
it was okay, but kind of a remake of Beaches.

I don't usually read much nonfiction, but a friend recommended "Aging With Grace" which is about the nun study and Alzheimer's. Yeah, at first I had myself pegged, but I got past that and found it fascinating.

I am rereading "Watership Down" an old favorite and a fun read for Spring. I love this book.

I just picked up "The Secret Lives of Dresses" By Erin McKean.
The gorgeous yellow dress on the cover and the line "Never underestimate the power of vintage..." really caught my eye.

It sounds really good, but I was so tired last night I barely got through the first page.

I just started The Circular Staircase by Mary Roberts Rinehart. It's old, so old it was a Kindle freebie and the plot is old fashioned - noises in the night, faces in the window, screaming maids and a rather wealthy spinster as main character. Now I know why the author is often called the American Agatha Christie.

I just saw the preview for this today. Looks like it will be very good plus I wouldn't mind looking at Robert Pattinson for a couple hours. :)

Lately I have finished "The Girl Who Played W/ Fire", "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest", "Night" by Elie Wiesel, and "Kidnapped" by Jan Burke. I'm now reading a book a friend of Waynes' wrote "The William Vagersteen Paintings". It's loosely autobiographical, starting w/ his GF who was a colorful, interesting man.

I think everyone should read "Night". It was a hard thing to read. I was disappointed in "Kidnapped". Our book group is reading "The Thirteenth Tale" for March. I read it about a year ago, but I'm gonna re-read it, b/c when I read them so far in advance, I always tend to forget a lot of it by the time the group meets, so this time I'm re-reading.

Currently reading "Storm Warning" by Nora Roberts. Next one will be "Santa Fe Edge" by Stuart Woods--love all of his books.

Vannie-I agree about Night. Very powerful. I had to read it in High school but it always stuck with me and I've re-read it since then.

We read The Thirteenth Tale in our book club last year and liked it! Our next book is "Unfinished Desires" by Gail Godwin, and no it is not a Harlequin Romance despite the name! LOL

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett....talk about old.

Just finished Voyager and today downloaded Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. (Outlander series)
