I need to go look that up, haven't heard of it. Is it like a laminate flooring, but vinyl?

I looked it up. It's that thin, flexible type flooring, isn't it? There was a lady on here that used it, but her old message was deleted and I can't think of her name. She's the same one who used the paper wainscoting.

My question is why not just go with laminate as it's cheaper and more durable? I guess the fact that it appears to be easier to install could be a consideration when choosing it. I don't even think you need a saw, which for some would be good.

I don't think I could find laminate installed any cheaper. From what I hear it holds up well. It has a 12 year warranty. They have new colors with a rustic look instead of completely smooth. I hope it looks okay. I will have rugs in every room so maybe it will not wear as easily. I'll take some pictures after it is installed. I just wish I could find someone else who has had it so I can see pictures of it installed.

Teach, we went with Metroflor's Konecto product, which is also vinyl plank. They have three different lines -- we chose the Prestige (middle) line because it was less rustic than their top-of-the-line.

I'm at work so can't post here, but if you check out my thread about "bedroom.. new floors .. help decorate" and the one about the new flooring making my old wood look heinous, you'll see pictures with the Konecto.

I have to say, I love the way it looks. Hasn't been down long enough for me to tell you how it's holding up (one week isn't statistically significant!), so I can't weigh in on that, but overall we are very happy with it.

I didn't do that one, but I did the Novalis plank from Lowe's in my kitchen. I chose it because my darned dishwasher sometimes floods my floor. Plus with dogs there is no shortage of water on my kitchen floor, whether it's tracked in melting snow or whatever. This morning I accidentally kicked a dog water bowl all over the floor.

It was extremely easy to lay. It looks real. My old floor (PO) was white and I was mopping it 5 times a day (I'm not kidding) all last winter with the dogs tracking across it. This one doesn't show dirt and I can vacuum or mop it every couple of days and it looks great. I'm really glad I made this change.

There is a thread on the flooring board about the Novalis. I read that before I installed this floor.

I have Amtico vinyl plank floors in my kitchen that looks like wood. I personally think it looks more like wood then laminates do but I can tell it isn't real. However, it fooled my brother, he thought it was real. It has a micro bevel on each plank and I think that helps make it look real.

As for holding up, I can't say for all vinyl plank floors but this one is doing extremely well. We had both sheet vinyl and vinyl tiles before and after a couple of years they had tears and nicks all over them.

We have had this one for almost 4 years and there is not a single nick or tear in it. It is very durable and also the easiest to clean floor ever.

I had a similar product in my last house. Our glue failed, so we eventually had to replace it with laminate, but I loved the glue down planks SO much better (before they failed!)

For one, they looked more like real wood. Secondly, since they adhered directly to the floor I didn't have that "clicky" sound that I hated about the laminate. Dog claws, dropping a penny, even just walking was LOUD on the laminate.

I'd do the wood planks again in a heartbeat, but with better glue!

I still love my Novalis plank from Lowe's.
