It's been happening to me all day. The forum listings are SOOO tiny they can barely be read, and things seem to come up normal size and then suddenly shrink. And yes, I have to double-click to go back. Not always, but usually. Whew..I was afraid it was my resident computer gremlin!

Are you both using Firefox? I do and I'm having to double click on the back button twice also, but no 'font' problems. I wonder if the garden web has made a change that makes it not as compatible with FF.?! I tried IE browser and there's no problem there.

Yes, I'm using Firefox. It updated to version 3.5 after I shut down and rebooted to see if it was just my computer or a site problem. So it was occurring before and after the update.
Nan, that's exactly what it does, comes up normal sized and immediately re-sizes itself. If I change the font size as soon as I click on a link or onto the conversations side, it re-sizes itself again! And the first click on the back arrow button does nothing, I have to click twice! GW what did you do? Argggh!

Same small size on Explorer too. Only difference is that it doesn't "re-size". Hmmmm...

No issues with the font but I do have to click the back arrow twice. I'm using Firefox.

I'm not seeing the same issue that you are and haven't received any other reports. It's possible that a particular ad is causing the problem -- which is why not everyone would be seeing it.

Firefox here. No font issues, but yes on the double-back clicking!

(I have all ads and scripts blocked which supports Tamara's theory.)

Yes. I posted on another forum and the preview looked normal. When the post went through, all of the apostrophes had changed to â≢.

This time it only took one click to return to the former page. Maybe they're working on it!

Yes, I'm back to twice again too.

Not had to click twice....but the font size bounces all over....and if you just forget about it will bounce back to "norma;"...whatever that is.

The font is different in Firefox but looks normal in Opera which is the browser I usually use.

No font problem, but I am having to click twice. It's like "click, wait, oh yeah -- click again." Using Mozilla at home, This wasn't happening at work today.

Me too and I'm on Firefox. If I enlarge the font with control+ then go back, it first goes back to the tiny font screen then I have to click back again to get to the page I want to go to. BUT on the message preview page everything is the bigger font I just adjusted ff to

Font fine, Firefox 3.5, double back click. Must be tallying page views for advertisers.

I'm thinking it's a FF thing not a GW thing.

When I open a thread the forward and backwards arrows are both "unabled". When I click once on the "back" arrow it "enables" both the front and back arrows, then I have to select the one I want (back or forward) resulting in a double click on the back arrow.

I use Firefox with AdBlock, and only have trouble with the double-click. No problem with fonts. Forward/back arrows are unchanged. Just a double click.

The double click is still happening on my computer. I also have Firefox with AdBlock. No problems with font size.

What's weird is that when I type a reply, this page and the preview are normal sized!

I posted that I'm having problems with font size (and I think the double click thing, too) over on the Kitchen Forum. I also have to log in each time I visit, which is *not* what I have had to do before (and I've been a GWer for a decade or more) and despite clicking the box to remember me each time I log in.

I use Firefox, too (the most current version). I don't have problems with any other website, just GW. I've checked cookies, too, just in case. It's not that. I'm stumped, as is computer whiz hubby (he's a software engineer). It's danged annoying!

Haven't done a screenshot because I don't see how that will help. I'd need to do a video capture for GW techs to see the problem in action.

Yes, Lisa, I'm having the exact same problems except logging out. HOWEVER when I clicked on your link to the Kitchen Forum I found that I'm not logged in over there, but here I'm cool! Go figure that one out!

I've had both issues, using firefox and adblock.

Holding down the Ctrl key and either the - or + key will change the size of text.

leaveswave, I know that trick and I've been using it but it's bloody annoying to have to do it each time I click to a new page.

And woo hoo, I did NOT have to log in today! It remembered me! And so far, font size has stayed the right size. I've only checked 4 pages and so far, so good but since it wasn't consistent before, it's hard to say if the issue is fixed. ll have to check to see if it continues to behave. Also have to check to see if the double click issue is resolved.

huh, guess 5th time is not the charm. Font shrunk when I went to the main forum page here. Blast. But then when I go to post on this thread again, font size in the thread is normal. What the he!! is going on?!?!

This time font size on the main forum page is fine but font size in this thread has shrunk. No rhyme or reason that I can see.

Main forum page and this page are both smaller too. Still have to click the back arrow twice!

Just wanted to let you know that this has been reported. I don't have an ETA on when it will be fixed -- sometimes these bugs can be difficult to pin down. But, hopefully it will be found and exterminated quickly!

I had to sign in this morning, but have had no problems with changing fonts or other problems. I have Vista and am using Explorer, if it makes a difference.

I've also noticed that when you have to click the "Back" button twice you lose the "Forward" list.

As soon as the cursor is moved over the "Forward" button it disables and when you look at the History there's no list for the forward items.

Mamalynn, your son is correct...and since most people use IE many sites won't bother to check that their site works on Firefox or others and if you complain they tell you to use IE. (I'm in IT so I know this from experience on both sides!) [Regarding Mamalynn's son's comment that many sites don't take the time & effort to ensure their sites work on Firefox as well as IE]

Another thing I've noticed is that when you have to click the Back button twice you lose the item you just left. I.e., the Forward button to go forward again doesn't work...it becomes disabled when you move the mouse cursor to it & the list of succeeding items is gone so you cannot go forward again to return to the latest item.

I didn't notice any of this at first b/c I always open a thread in a new tab. But when I went to post something and went back to check the original thread after a preview it started happening...and I lost the updates I had made to the message!

There's actually more going on than it appears....I notice that when I open a new thread, two are opened in the same tab. When I look at the history of back/forward it appears there are two...but they're identical.

Other quirks seem to be happening as well...like even when the back button works and the forward list is not lost you still cannot go forward even when you click the forwarded item.

All very weird!

All this is only happening on GW; other sites work just fine.

These issues are happening on both my home machine where I have not updated Firefox in a long time (3.0.11) and my work machine where I recently updated Firefox to 3.0.12...

Additionally, I ran 3.0.12 for a week or two w/no problems b/f this all started happening.

Thanks for all that insight, buehl. I certainly hope GW fixes the problems - from what you posted, it's apparent that it's a GW and not a Firefox issue - and doesn't tell us to just use IE. I *hate* IE and I don't visit sites that require me to use IE to view them.

Ah, but I AM using IE, and I've been having problems this morning. I type a response, hit "preview" and it just hangs there. If I go back, I lose the post. If I wait, nothing happens. It's happened to me twice in this thread!

On my end anyway, looks like the issues are resolved. I'm on Mozilla Firefox and the forum is behaving nicely for me now.

The font size seems to be stable after a few glitches this morning.

Still have to log in each time I stop in, despite checking the box to save the information on my computer. I have the same issues using my hubby's laptop and using IE. However, here's a funny little quirk. It seems I only have to log in each time for the Kitchen Forum. I just came from there where I wasn't logged in to this thread on the Cooking Forum where I *am* logged in. And I didn't log in inbetween stops. I'm remembered in one forum and not the other.

Please get the powers that be at GW to fix this mess! Thank you!

We're still working on the issue. It looks like they may have isolated the back button problem (it hasn't been pushed live yet), but still can't nail down the incredible shrinking font. I've been using the most updated version of FF for the last few days and still haven't run across it. If anyone else is still having that problem, please send me a screenshot of the small font.

Did you fix it? I'm on the road & on my laptop but there's no font problem. The back button is still problematic, but not the font-at least on this computer.

Did you get my screenshot from before?

When I click the back button, the font shrinks, then I push it again and it actually does go back!

I didn't open this thread until now because I 1) assumed it was my PC and 2) Duh, I didn't view it as a font problem--more of a screen size problem.

After each screen change I have to do the Ctrl + scroll thing to enlarge the screen.
