a persons nose would get big ,my brothernlaws nose like tripled in size.we know now...Hes fighting for his life he has brain cancer.every day hes gone more and more.

Well, especially if you buy a box-store mix (or even non-sod quality seed) you have to worry about poa introduction. Why even deal with that if you are going to scrap the whole thing next year? It could ruin your new seeding next year. Most of my poa was pre-existing that prevailed from seed after renovation.

The third one looks like it could be Catmint...the second one doesn't look like anything I recognize and the first really looks like Lobelia siphilitica to me. I've never grown the Tithonia, could that be #2? Sorry I wasn't able to stick to your list better. Jeanne

No flowers here either, except maybe for a few of the mice. I don't like them sticking way up above the leaves. I used to cut and bring in some of the flower stalks on the fragrant ones, but they put too much odor in the air, even with windows open. When you look at some of the flowers really up close, they are simply beautiful...BUT I like the smell of sauted garlic, or a ripe pineapple, not perfumes. To each his own. ;-) -Babka

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I'm sure you are all right, I won't even be able to tell next year. That really wasn't even my biggest concern, it just felt wrong digging into a strong healthy plant and cutting it up. The root knife just seemed brutal. I split my Teaspoon for someone else as well, but it was in a pot and I just sort of pulled the roots apart and and got a nice little chunk with minimal damage and no broken leaves. Took the opportunity to freshen the soil a little and it was good to go. Jo, I'm laughing about your comment when you read the 'my hosta list' part of my story. More experienced gardeners here than me! Ken, no Dorothy Benedicts here so I didn't have to worry about that LOL. But I love the idea of a give away hosta nursery. Unfortunately every spare bit of real estate is being swallowed up with new hosta. Maybe I could try something behind the fence in the veggie garden.

So sorry about your brother in law. I have heard that a person's nose and ears are the only thing that keep growing as we age, so maybe since he's ill and probably losing weight in his face, the nose appears bigger? Just a thought. Hang in there, (((hugs))).

That is sad news. My thoughts are with you and yours.

There is a condition that can cause a nose to grow. WC Fields had it. It is called Rhinophyma - and can be caused by untreated rosacea.

I think Bill Clinton suffers from it too.
