What is the best plumbing fixture brand?
Comments (6)I look for the ability to repair the equipment easily. I bought all Moen faucets because I can go to any parts store on any day of any week and get replacement cartridges for $10. Moen has used the same cartridge for 30 years or so. I bought an American Standard Cadet "3" toilet after using a Toto for six months and pricing the Toto. The performance of the two toilets is as identical as I can see and hear, but the AS is only about $150. Terry Love is a shill for Toto, so you won't find much about anything else on his site. For shower heads I like to feel the force of the water washing the soap off. I also try to stick with water conserving heads. Rain type heads are neither of those. The one I like is called a Europa. It's under $15 hanging on the rack at Lowe's and/or Home Depot. It is not in with the official shower heads but in with replacement heads. It is easy to disassemble if it gets clogged. For a tub we got a Jacuzzi brand. They claim their internal plumbing all points down so any water in the piping will drain out when the water drains out of the tub....See MoreBest way to change light fixtures with very high ceilings
Comments (3)I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. It's not just the lights that need changing, it's the entire fixture that we're swapping out for a more up-to-date look. The fixtures are two ceiling fans and one large chandelier/foyer light. When they're dead center in the room with 18ft tall ceilings, I just don't know the best way to have themm changed. Do electricians have A frame ladders that tall or is scaffolding the way to go?...See Morebest place to sell mid century light fixture? (Mn)
Comments (13)I think I'd try craigslist to see if you get any bites. Not sure it's worth the trouble of ebay listing. Here's something similar (but copper) on ebay (for sale, not sold) for $70. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Pull-Down-Hanging-Metal-Light-Fixture-with-Hurricane-Glass-Lamp-USED/362289913139?hash=item545a295d33:g:Y3QAAOSwZQxW4oan And another, brass, and slightly less Early American looking, for $59. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-MCM-Hurricane-Chrome-Brass-Pull-Down-Hanging-Ceiling-Fixture-Light-Lamp/123102195186?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D44040%26meid%3Dabed10f070584bf187f05eb738b71829%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D362289913139%26itm%3D123102195186&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851...See MoreShed some light -what fixture is best?
Comments (7)I really don't like the mini chandeliers in the example photo, or that there are three of them. I would do a semi-flush mount, and two fixtures with decent wattage is enough. Our last laundry room was wider and longer, and I used two fixtures with single bulb and had plenty of light. I also suggest centering within the open area (not including upper cabinet depth)....See MoreRelated Professionals
