Am I alone? Heating cold cereal

And adding Parkay Free everything, then add milk to it?

Call me weird, but I love it!

Add your weird ways of eating foods!

Heating cold cereal?? like corn flakes or something?? Heck ya you're weird! LOL

I just ate a big dish of chips dipped in ketchup!

Now you're making me hungry for cereal. My appetite is huge lately. (No, I'm not pregnant.)

I have not heated cold cereal, but I can see that some cereals would be good that way.

I have a friend who told me she likes donut sundaes. She warms a plain glazed donut in the microwave, then tops it with ice cream and syrup. Never thought of it, but it actually sounds very yummy. About a million calories, but yummy! LOL.

DH eats peanut butter and bologna. Spreads PB on a slice of bologna, rolls it up and eats it. I have to leave the room, it is positively disgusting to me.

I can't think of anything weird I eat, I'm boring that way.

A few more I noticed while watering today that might do: I grow Cotoneaster horizontalis variegatus in a 14" container in full sun and does well, but we have high humidity...might make a difference? The bunny leaves it alone too. Turns lovely shade of red in winter, but very few blooms and no berries. Juniper 'Blue Star' in a low container with silvery-white Centaurea gymnocarpa 'Colchester White' and bunny ignores. Check out this Centaurea...it's the whitest filigreed leaf and evergreen here. Thrives in full sun. 30" high, 30" wide mound. Spreads from root but not as fast as some Artemesia. Chrysanthemum pacificum (now I believe renamed Ajania) is lowgrowing but spreads well. Would flow over and follow contours of rocks. Tough plant almost evergreen...sort of curls up in Jan-Feb but already in growth again). Silver-edged crinkly leaf, small yellow button flowers in fall. And bunny ignores. Trachelospermum asiatica probably grows too vigorously but a slower variant is Trachelospermum asiatica variegata gets about 12 in tall..takes full sun. Few blooms but the green/white leaves take on reddish tones in winter. Toxic so no bunny damage. Haven't noticed bunny bothering my 30" clump of Rue. Ruta graveolens 'Blue Mound'. Mine is confined to pot but I believe it spreads if in ground. Nice blue foliage, insignificant yellow flowers. Don't believe bunny bothers. Hedera canariensis variegata grows about 12" tall, large -about 5-6"- colorful evergreen leaves on red stems. Pink tones in winter. Can't swear to it but believe no bunny damage. Have a Hypericum rather nice yellow flowers, leaves turn reddish in winter, grows about 2 feet tall and I've read that it will spread...mine's in a pot, but throws out 3-4 foot branches which I presume would take root if I didn't keep trimmed. Haven't noticed bunny damage. All these are in full sun growing within sight of my back windows and I see one bunny once a week or so. so no guarantee but just my experience. Have lots of varied plants but these are strong growers most of which I've grown for years. The Centaurea is a 3-year "newbie" which I like better than any Artemesia which often don't do well in our humid summers. Yes, I like variegated foliage! Smile. But I love foliage of all kinds more than flowers and so have lots of plain greens to set off variegation. You may want to stick to plain green version...they are usually even tougher and grow faster. Good luck with your project. josh

i would think that the heated floors would be plenty as a secondary heat source. i decided to go with a towel warmer/radiator as a secondary source of heat...chose to not do the heated tiles because i like some rugs in bathroom and thought it would be too much and a waste covering up the warm tiles. i don't think it takes too much extra heat in a small bathroom to make a big difference!!

ok... I don't know about cold and insensitive... you sound a lot like my husband... I think of him as being totally clueless about the lives that surround him. I agree that is sounds like you both need to see to some counseling... we've been there, and are STILL there) that said... there are things I would like my husband to "just take care of" without being asked... (see if these are things you did/did not do)... Meals do not magically appear on the table, help put them there sometimes. Clean up after meals does not magically happen. Wipe the counters when you see they are messy. It you took it out to use it, put it away, or if it's now empty toss it and put it on the shopping list. Pick up your laundry and toss it in the hamper. Maid service is not existant in our house, clean up after yourself. Schedule your own appointments at times you know are convenient for you. We both get up to go to work, if the child (or pet) needs someone during the night... take turns, your job is no more important than mine. Being an at-home mom is a job, with p-poor pay by the way. Remember birthdays, holidays, school events, etc. Just becasue your family ignored these while you were growning up does not mean our family should. The washing machine/dryer do not require female attention, they respond to males also, and do not require anything onther than about an 8 year old mentality to operate. Poor planning on your part does not mean an emergency for me. I may opt to help out, but do not expect me to, unless you are willing to recipricate when I plan poorly. You don't drop things when I ask for help with something, don't expect me to drop things for you. Treat me at least as well as you treat your co-workers, I am your spouse, not your slave. I think you get the idea... I think in any marriage there nees to be a flow of give and take... and for whatever reason it seems that frequently the males seem to want the Ozzie and Harriet home... but the modern life of equals in a marriage... it doesn't work... both people have to be willing to be flexible, BUT especially when children are small, a lot more of the burden of the children shifts to the wife, without anything really ever "leaving" her plate... my favorite question to my husband to make him stop and think was/is... what changed in your daily life with the addition of children into our family? To be honest, he would freely admit that he had added "responsibilities" mental and financial... but that he really didn't do anythng "extra" around the house or for the children... that that ALL fell to me... while we were both working full time at very comparable jobs.... Is it any wonder I was stressed and feeling lke I wanted to just strangle him some times??? A child adds a lot to a household... multiple children are exponential additions in the younger years... Thanks, all. Bea, I read the link and will be more cautious. I was bitten about 6 yrs ago and am very cognizant of ant mounds. However, I was chatting with my neighbor while I was digging a hole and busy talking to him at the same time. I wasn't paying attention but I did not notice a ant mound. Might have been there but I really didn't see it. My flower beds are cleared of weeds and I have one section where I grow Milkweed. If I remember 6 yrs ago, the mound was in the same bed but I was attacked big time. They ran up my legs and I had so many bites. I remember trying to pull my clothes off out front of the house and really didn't care if any neighbors saw me! Jstropic, you made me think about this. I really did not see any ants. I felt my feet stinging and my ankles swelling and I ran for the house. I kicked my flip flops off and my clothes and jumped in the shower. While I was in the shower, I looked and didn't see any ants, but my feet/ankles were so swollen. After getting out I noticed these large blisters forming, like burn blisters. I thought that was odd as I didn't remember that from 6 yrs ago. I did put ice on the areas and some cortisone cream. My feet and ankles were so sore. After I got my wits back, I went outside to get my flip flops and looked at them carefully and found one ant which appeared to be biting the bottom of the flip flop. Weird, but that cinched it for me. It was ants. I looked up Nettles and it is possible that is growing in the area. I have a weed lawn! Its green and that's fine. I'm afraid to go out to the area where I was, to look. From what I read on-line, it says the nettle stings get better in a day. My feet are still full of these pimples and hurt. I have gotten a shoe on but it is not comfortable. From what I read on-line, you should not break those blisters. I read medical websites and they say the blisters protect the venom from entering the blood stream. They make a strong statement about that. They say to let the blisters dry up on their own. The only treatment is ice, cortisone type cream (patted on to not break the blisters), and time. They say not to cover the blisters with a shoe or sock to prevent the blisters from breaking. Soooo, I'm surviving and am thinking of hiring someone to look for those 'suckers.' I'm afraid to go back there. But, my pots of Milkweed are still sitting there without getting planted. I'm ready to go back to New York!

When I worked at Kellogg on the corn mills it was part of my job to eat corn flakes and frosted flakes right out of the toasting ovens. It was a quality control taste test. They always tasted good to me while they were warm.

For some reason, people think it's weird that I eat miracle whip and banana sandwiches. It seems perfectly normal to me.

I'm into flax cereal. Just add a cup, the Parkay spray, heat, add milk and eat. Delicious
My favorite: whole salted peanuts and mayo

which flax cereal do you eat?

I like to take Shredded Wheat, pour boiling water over it, let it sit for a bit, then drain off the water, would have the same effect in the microwave.

I just heat the milk in a bowl in the microwave, remove and add the cold cereal and stir. A quick but warm meal in the evening.

Corn flakes ... shredded wheat ... toasted O's ... Quaker's Harvest Crunch ...

... add a half teaspoon of brown sugar, a shot of milk (plus some cream) ...

30 sec. in microwave ...

... delicious!

Of course, most of the time in winter it's cooked oatmeal (various types), wheat, variety of grains, farina, etc. (but not used to grits) ...

... if there's a pan available that hasn't been burned.

glenda, my Mom used to crush salted peanuts a bit and mix them with mayo, spead it on bread with lettuce and what delicious sandwichs. She took them everywhere and people loved them.

Wish I had one now.

I tried it for the first time this morning after reading this post. I had Special K, with yellow sugar and milk, microwaved 30 seconds. It was really good.

I like cold cereal cold and eat oatmeal if I want something hot.

Guess I can relate to the mayo and peanut sand, but I like peanutbutter, Miracle Whip and Lettuce on wheat toast. :)

The only cold cereal I used to heat up were those big Shredded Wheats. And even then, I didn't heat them up but I would heat the milk. Then pour a bowl of sugar on top........LOL I don't do that anymore.

i love quaker granola and nuke it in milk almost everyday...my next fave is cherios with yogurt instad of milk, but cold...

Drat this thing and it's proclivity for having "Caps Lock" become engaged! There's some arthritis in little finger, left hand, which makes it frequent on my computer ... and even more so on this borrowed laptop - I'm not familiar iwth laptops.

but then again, I do LOVE cereal but HATE soggy! I need them to be crunchy!
i'm doing fiber one now.... cant imagine it heated and I would think it would get soggy

I hate soggy too. The only cold cereal I would heat up is GrapeNuts. yummmmmm.....

Otherwise, I'll just have oatmeal if I want warm cereal.

Scottyman, I mix two kinds of Nature's Path in a plastic storage container, both organic.
1. OPTIMUM POWER breakfast flax, soy, blueberry
2. Pumpkin FLAX PLUS Granola

Hot cereal? Hmmmm, the only cold cereal I would eat hot is shredded wheat biscuits. My brother used to make them for us when we refused to eat another pancake (he would eat them everyday!)

Dip the biscuits briefly in milk on both sides.
Fry in butter in a skillet until golden brown on both sides.
(They will be really flat)
Put on a plate and eat like you would pancakes.
I prefer mine with butter, peanut butter, orange marmalade and syrup.

Did I mention they are healthy?

I like to dip my popcorn in ketchup (the only time I eat ketchup).
I am a dipper. I like to dip lots of foods.
I like liverwurst, bread and butter pickles and mayo on a saltine.
