Comments (27)Is she still vegetarian, Jodi? I turned when I was about 16 so it's been a while. The problem with veggie burgers is that most restaurants just throw it on the grill with the others, which grosses me out. Sometimes they will do it on a separate grill. I went to Chipotle for lunch today and the guy before me got soft tacos, so the worker got steak sauce all over his gloves so that when he picked up my bowl, it smeared all over the inside along the sides. I stood there staring for about 10 seconds wondering if I should ask him to make a new one but I ended up just wiping the sides off before I ate it. I realize most people aren't as uptight as I am about it! I just try not to think about it but it's hard when you see it happen....See MoreIdeas for bbq'd shrimp
Comments (2)well for future reference, these have garlic in them but it's by no means the main flavor. They're really good! Rum Glazed Spicy Shrimp - magothyrivergirl (recipe from my local grocer's ad that was featuring Key West Pink Shrimp) 2 1/2 lb shrimp 6T light Rum (4T + 2T) 2T fresh Key Lime juice ( I have also used regular limes) 2 T olive oil (see note) 3 garlic gloves, minced 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (I use more) 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar 1T cider vinegar Peel shrimp, keeping tails intact. Place in bowl with 4T of rum, key lime juice, oil, garlic, red pepper flakes & salt. Toss to coat throughly. Cover; marinate in frig for 30 - 60 mins. In small bowl combine brown sugar, vinegar,& remaining 2T rum. Stir. Thread shrimp on skewers. Lightly brush with brown sugar glaze. Grill over med - hot fire about 3 minutes per side, brushing w/ additional glaze until shrimp are opaque. Note: For more zing I use 1T olive oil + 1T hot chili oil...See MoreFreezing hamburger buns?
Comments (14)I've never had good luck freezing cheap hamburger or hot dog buns. Bread, yes, but not for long term. I freeze bagels. Lately I use a good bagel for a burger bun. With bread, as with most anything, remove as much air as possible. A second wrap helps. Thawing, I generally leave it open a bit so the excess moisture can get out or else it goes mushy. Turn it while thawing. I generally switch bags when thawing it to put it into a dry bag. That helps a lot. However, if making a burger, put the bun in and toast it. That will freshen it up and toast it at the same time. Or just steam it on the burger. Not as good as toasted but workable....See MoreFavorite hamburger toppings
Comments (54)The classic grilled onion, dill pickle (relish or slice), catsup, yellow mustard, ripe tomato slice and lettuce (or arugula). When I was a little girl, and the first McDonalds opened in our town, my father would sometimes plan to stop there while out doing errands on Saturday. He would always ask what I wanted on it, and I would always tell him "everything" not knowing that that was how they came regardless!...See More- 16 years ago
