Kitchen Paint Colors - any of these?

Now that my LR is finally painted (color BM Shelburne Buff) I'm on to my kitchen. I bought some material for a valance and I'm going to have some seat cushions made for the stools of the same material. Kitchen and DR/eating area are open together. I was leaning towards green.

*note - I'd like to add corbels to the island at some point and recover the DR chairs. The only things that are able to change at this point in the kitchen/dr area are the paint and accessories.

Here's some pics of samples I have. What do you think? Suggestions to other colors are welcome. TIA

night L-R *I think I should change out my DR light bulbs. They cast a horrible yellow glow and it's making these paint colors look like crap. Suggestions on bulbs?

The area gets pretty much light. I'm probably going to be painting the foyer/hall area either BM Yorkshire Tan or color that's very similar to Dunmore Cream.

First I just wanted to say that I had been out of touch a bit over the last few months and I'm trying to catch back up. I peeked over at your LR drape thread and WOW...that turned out spectacular! I love it all!

I always loved Olive Branch for a paint color and it seems to go nicely with your beautiful new material.

What a great job you are doing with your home!

I like the Hancock Gray - it just looks prettier with the fabric to me. The others tend to look more subdued, so I guess it depends on what look you're going with.

What color are you doing the hall/foyer? I think you should take that into account as well as how these colors look in regard to the LR. While they aren't totally side by side, the colors should be in the same color tones so it's not garring when going from room to room...Just my thoughts!

Marti- If you don't like a soft gold or off white...what do you like? I think the right shade of green could look very nice or even light blue. All the colors are really very neutral, so a light color should still work with them...as long as you get the right shade to play off the wood cabinets and warm tones in the granite. Another question...what colors do you want to use in the dining area? What about fabrics? Will this granite 'work' with these choices or do you think something with less movement would be better? The one (sometimes) downside, to rooms being open to each other.

How exciting that you're building a new home! Congrats! What sort of style/feel are you gravitating towards? Warm or cool? Modern, traditional, rustic, etc.? There is so much more to cabinets than just colors. There are also finishes and styles. For example, gray rustic kitchen cabinets look very different from gray contemporary kitchen cabinets. Usually when people don't mention the style they're thinking in a traditional style sense, so I'll take a guess that you're coming from that angle. With a lot of natural lighting, you can get away with having darker kitchen cabinets and still having a kitchen that feels open and bright. In my opinion, light countertops look best with dark brown cabinets.

Any beige paint suggestions for my living/dining/kitchen space?

Again thank you all for the suggestions. I am now leaning toward a warm white vs. a beige! Out of 12 samples (mostly beiges), I've narrowed it down to 4 (1 off-white, 3 beiges), now just trying to figure out which looks best with the kitchen backsplash. (I think they all look fine with the countertop, various woods, & living room, so it's coming down to the kitchen.) If anyone would like to share their opinions on the following choices, I'd appreciate any input: SW Creamy SW Canvas Tan BM Gentle Cream BM Dulce de Leche On the countertop Earlier in the living room, with other samples. SW Creamy is at the top. BM Gentle Cream is on the bottom. Earlier in the living room, with other samples. BM Dulce de Leche is at the top. SW Canvas Tan is 3rd from the top. I've discovered it is very hard to capture beige on camera! Hopefully you can see the subtle differences in these photos.

these should get you started In your second pic, it actually looks more gray. This Wolf Gray is a perfect match to the photo here are some grayer blues. I like 4000K bulbs in the kitchen. anything lower and you're getting a lot of yellow tones.

Lindy - Thank you! I'm torn between colors.

Caroleoh - I'm probably going to be painting the foyer/hall area either BM Yorkshire Tan or Dunmore Cream. I can't picture any type of gold in my kitchen with the cabinets being light oak. I don't want them to look more orange/yellow than what they already are.

I will say IRL the Hancock Gray and the Olive Branch are very similar. I think Hancock may be a wee lighter.

I am having trouble telling the colors apart on my laptop they all look too similar to choose one. I just wanted to say you have a great kitchen to work with. I love the fabric for the valance and chairs.

From what I'm seeing on my monitor, my vote is for Hancock Gray. Beautiful fabric & beautiful kitchen, Sheesharee!

Another vote here for the Hancock Gray. I think it would look great in your lovely kitchen and picks up the right shades from your fabric choice the best.

I'd vote for the Hancock too but I have one major hesitation. In the first pic, which is the only one I can see the cabs and the paints together, it looks like the Hancock is bringing out an orangey tone. As this is going in the kitchen and the cabs are a major part of it, that would be a big concern for me.

Can you take a pic or two of the Hancock and the two olives (Providence Olive and Olive Branch) against the cabs?

OH my! I didn't realize I didn't have really any pics with the cabinets. I'll tape em up tonight and take some more. I want whatever paint I pick to compliment the room obviously. I am open to other paint suggestions if none of these really scream IT. My eyes are starting to cross from looking at them so much. :)

Yorkshire Tan - This was the color I was going to possibly use in the foyer/hall. Wanted to use something darker in the kitchen since it gets more light.

My cabinets really do look orangey at night. My original plans for the kitchen was to do a gray/blue color because of the cabinets(this was before I found the new fabric) but I gravitate towards reds, greens, and golds. Not to mention, the blue wouldn't flow with my red/green/gold LR or anything else in my house. *sigh*

Honestly, I'm not really liking any of those with your cabs. The Hancock looks best but even that is kind of meh. It's kind of muddy / blah.

I'd be tempted to take that fabric in and have them color-match the green in it. There's a bit more "pop" to it. Actually, I think I'd have them color-match the red but maybe that's just me. In my defense, that pic of the fabric draped over the cabs is what inspired me. The red makes the cans glow. But then, I seem to be having a bit of a red obsession these days.

Keep in mind, I'm a high-contrast type of person.

Pbrisjar - Yeah I'm having my doubts about the Hancock myself. In certain lighting I don't care for it. Kind of a split pea soup color. I do really like reds lately but I don't think I could handle a red kitchen. Hmmm.. what to do.

Love all BM Colors..... We used BM Dry Sage.. Here is our kitchen and we have similar countertops :) Hope that helps

Can you post a closer picture of just the fabric and a bigger pic or is there a link to the fabric somewhere? I think a green with yellow would work. Some of the greens have a gray undertone that is too cool.

Mdc08 - Your kitchen is very pretty! I love all the corbels. The paint color is nice too.

Kmcg - This is the only other pic of the fabric I have right now and it has part of the countertop with it. I'll take another tonight if this doesn't help. I also attached the link. I think the Hancock has more of a yellow undertone than the rest.

You cabinets are very close to mine, and your contertop is very similar in color to the ones I just installed (Milano Quartz laminate in-stock ones from Lowes). I painted my kitchen SW Svelte Sage, and I think it looks great! Not too gray and doesn't have that yellowy undertone to it.

I may have to go to Joann and see if they have that fabric here. I need a valance over the sink and can't find anything premade that I like at all, and I like the looks of that fabric. Thanks for posting it :).
