This is my favorite cabinet door style so far...

All along I've been looking at DIY cabinet options. I don't know much about this line yet but I really love the door style. I just wrote to MKFUSA and asked some questions. My first pick would be rift sawn oak (white I hope) either in natural or a cinnamon stain. The upcharge is 25% which may not make it worth it. The other choice would be maple in a cinnamon stain. The manufacturer is called Rivers Bend. All I know is it's all wood construction and manufactered in the U.S. Like it with my bakers table?

Kitchen Craft has a similar door style. I almost went for it, but got cold feet at the last minute when my kd said it had a modern vibe and I wasn't sure I wanted to go that direction. I still really like it and think it would be nice combo with your table.

Jennifer Guilin --from you--it was quite productive,thin fleshed and quite hot.I tried this last year and none germinated. Antonia P. Rhomedia-- this pepper with the unlikely name came from a non-pepper person.I first thought it might be Antohi Romanian because of similarities in name. This pepper was green rather than pale when immature and the shape was different- thick flesh ( like a bell) juicy, sweet, and tasty. Tuste Blanco-- is a Zapotec Indian pepper- C. annuum, tough skin, moderate heat,fairly productive CAP 469-AB-- was sent to me as C. praetermissum even though the seed bank lists it as capsicum species. I had two plants CAP 469-AB 2 turned out to be a C. annuum, large,bland pepper with no heat. The other plant was a praetermissum which I brought in but the aphids became too much and I chucked it before the pods ripened so no pod picks. Here are the flowers CAP 469-AB 2 CAP 469-AB 1 St Helena Is Acorn is also from you-looks like I didn't get a picture of the ripe pods-they turned yellow and then red, fairly prolific, slow building but very hot. The peeve of mine that gets the best workout has to be improper detailing of porches or porticos that folks are trying to make appear classically-inspired. Seems like most of the time the lintels are larger or thicker than the column underneath - a big no-no. Then, the entablature is compressed to fit under the eaves or second floor window line so much so that the proportions are further distorted. It is also likely that the columns are some mishmash of style, composition or proportion. If the beam is arched, it appears it was cut freehand with a jigsaw, without regard to any evenness or flow to the curving line. The overhanging portions are quite often botched, too. From zero overhang to a fascia that is equal in visual weight to the lintel, we see it all around here. You might expect this on starter homes or where an owner/builder is in charge, but on houses double the median price? I do go on, but I'll finish with this-- good proportions don't cost more than poor ones. Casey

Yes, the countertops are white Corian and they are in excellent shape. We have about 95 square feet of counters. Our realtor has strongly discouraged us from changing them based on comparisons to others in our neighborhood. He also said that in his experience whatever sellers have whether it is a solid surface material, stone or other, that 9 times out of 10 clients comment that it's not to their taste and they deduct the cost of changing it in their offers anyway. All of the houses in our neighborhood were built with laminate except for the 10% or so houses which were custom built and they all had Corian. Some of the homes have replaced their laminate with stone or other material. I forgot to answer another question earlier. The floors are site finished hardwood throughout all of the downstairs. We constantly get positive feedback on the floors. The only thing I can think of is that our kitchen is significantly larger than most in our neighborhood and it would be quite an undertaking to change it out any more than we already have. Maybe most buyers want to renovate to their taste and see ours as too big of a project. Unfortunately if I were to do the renovation for them, it still wouldn't be to their taste.

Thanks much, ladies! I really like it, though I'm not sure how well it will hold up in the winter. I used glazed ceramic tiles which I'm told could crack in cold winter areas. I'm crossing my fingers our climate is mild enough for it. Slowmedown, you're right about cutting the larger tiles. I can do the ceramic no problem, but I can't cut porcelain to save my life. It's also difficult to find tile in small quantities, so my color choices have been limited. I'm thinking I'll probably be forced to move away from playing with these larger tiles, which is kind of a bummer. I really like the effect of mixing the bulky shapes into the overall designs. Calamity, I'm not sure if the Sheri Warner book you're talking about is Creative Concrete Ornaments for the Garden. It's the book that started me off on the quest to master the art of concrete and mosaic. I absolutely love her work, and I don't know what it is about concrete, but I find it a really enjoyable medium to work with. Maybe because it's so much like baking (without all the excess calories, LOL)

Oh, that's nice. I actually like it exactly as shown (I'm a sucker for interesting wood). I think it'll be just fine with your table. I'd suggest getting a sample of some sort though so you can check tones / color values.

Love it!!! And I love that modern vibe.

How wide are the stiles? I got a wide shaker with 3" stiles, but yours looks even wider.

The wood's gorgeous too - is that the wood you're getting? Very rich-looking.

I LOVE it! The wide frame surrounding a flat panel is something I see mostly in British cabinetry, and it's what I'm going to make for my cabinets too. It'd go perfectly with your baker's table, style wise. The wood you use will make a difference tho. Rift sawn oak might not go that well, unless the cabinet design leans Victorian. Otherwise it might seem Arts and Craftsy, and I don't visualize the bakers table with that. That's just my opinion, tho, I might be wrong.

I don't see the door style as having a modern vibe. I almost exclusively see it in British magazines featuring traditional cabinetry.

I'm not sure about the width of the stiles. I know I can buy a sample door for $30... I don't think that's for the QS oak. I think that door/wood is rustic something. To be honest, though I think it's beautiful, it's darker then I'm imagining I want to go and more rustic. I just love the simple yet interesting style. It's exactly what I envision. Now if I could only get thses damn pictures outta my head!!

I love it; that's exactly the sort of style that tempts me to competely change our design. It is so warm and homey, and the wide stiles add a lot of visual interest.

MY sister's dh is a master cabinet maker -I'm always on the inquiry what job he is working on - We talked shop recently & I inquired which species he liked best - He likes qtr sawn oak - I ? about rift sawn - he likes it but says qtr always costs more

Like your door - is the one posted in pine?

I just went back and looked. That door is rustic alder in Briarwood finish. MKFUSA told me that Rivers Bend calls their quartersawn oak rift sawn oak. Are they different cuts of wood? Really, if they were available in both woods and I got samples of the qs oak and maple... and it was reasonably close; I'd go for the maple at 25% less. Most important, I'm waiting on info on how they're cabs are constructed.

Quarter sawn and rift sawn oak are not the same thing, but are sometimes mixed in a project. This link shows a diagram that explains it better than I can.
